Would It be possible to make a revision for our shotgun?
I mean, a good pump action shotgun would do well to help in short range battles.
Our shotgun is double-barrelled. A pump action shotgun will require a Design phase and it won't fill many niches that the SMG doesn't already fill.

Glory to Arstotzka.

The only sidearm we have is a shoddy pistol that's normally used as a close range backup anyway.

Why not revise the pistol then? It's not like a shotgun can be a really effective SIDEARM, unless we go for a real cut-down sawed off version. I'd prefer the pistol as it can hold more ammo than a sawed off can, and more ammo and magazines can be carried besides.

In fact, I think it's time to address our pistol.

Revise our pistol to use a more reliable action and higher quility parts so it can fire reliably every time the trigger pulls. If possible allow for the action and barrel to handle "hot-loaded" cartridges(basically cartridges filled with more propellant than usual) at a small cost to barrel life and accuracy. This should increase stopping power a bit.

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

I oppose fixing the pistol on the ground that it has effectively become Arztotskan cultural heritage.

...*facpalm* no need to cripple ourselves if we don't have to. We could save an original model and put it in a museum or something if you want "cultural heritage"

Well, so far I'm not finding it, so maybe you'll have better luck, but I remember that sensei did mention that civilian 1909s using foreign springs and hammers were in use, and worked pretty well.

Edit: Yup, found it. Shooting enthusiasts have modded 1909s to use foreign made springs, magazines and other parts to increase reliability. It's not the design that is crap, it's the manufacturing. Plus, revising it to be more reliable in any case would be possible, or at least SHOULD be.

Turns out I was wrong. He said that it wont get any better until revision or a new design.

That said, I am going to say the same thing I did about the SMG: Its old enough that a new design will most likely be far better than any revision.

Tell that to m1911s, which are STILL used today somewhere. :P

Age has nothing to do with Design being better than Revision. Using Design to improve a weapon will always yield better results than Revision. Besides, we're not looking to add any significant features or anything. We're just trying to not make it Shoddy any more.

Glory to Arstotzka.

This. The only reason to design a new pistol really is if we want one using a larger bullet, say a 10x25mm? Or if we want ridiculous hand cannons, a 12x30mm.

We can make a pistol only if it doubles as a flare gun and maybe a knife.
Also, have we made binoculars when we created the optics?

Not hard to do, just duct tape two scopes together. Of course, this isn't as good as something custom built, but will do for ad-hoc binoculars.

Thats the 1911, which is the pistol equivalent of the SMLE, the MP5 or the AK-47. Its gonna be in use until the earth goes poof.
