How do you feel about the use of guns in this setting?

We know how to make them and they're useful, mainline production.

We might be able to do exotic matter. Probably won't have time to do anything with it, as I remember Amp saying something about end-game type things in about a year ingame.

If [REDACTED] remains undisrupted for another year or so, I might extend it to 1.5 years, game over. Endgame is expected to take place for quite a while before and, perhaps, after that. Of course, research and development will also continue as long as the Dwarven nation remains intact enough to give you resources, provided you give tangible results.

It'd be fun though. And Gwolf could make a mess of things to an even more extreme extent. If all else fails, we can just figure out how to create antimatter and blow a bunch of stuff up.

To be clear, I was referring initially to the Dwarves being unable to sustain the nation in its current form as a result of severe external factors, not its own failure to remain stable internally. If there's one thing Glorious Totalitarian Dorfland is good at, it's societal stability.

It's a valid endgame scenario. :V

Edit: Which is not to say that using explosive weapons will end the game, but if you use high-yield weapons on a large scale, the game will pretty immediately be over. Whether or not you are counted as having "won" is less guaranteed, and as with most endgame scenarios I won't actively discourage you from reaching, there would be a second campaign.

Actually, you know what, no. I shouldn't make blanket statements like that. I'm honestly not terribly set on any ending point, and fully intend to allow you to continue playing the game for as long as it's fun, but certain scenarios are going to get very untenable very quickly, and on TPK it's most likely I'll declare the campaign over and begin the process of making an actual plan for the next one.

Also, I do intend to update later today, and apologize for the gap in stuff. I've been quite busy this week, something that should be mitigated within a few more weeks.

A major issue with guns in this setting is ammunition, because while it's simple enough to manufacture guns to the necessary quality with time and effort, mass-producing ammunition to any sort of precision is extremely difficult without at least Industrial Revolution-era manufacture equipment. This is bad, because imprecise ammunition tends to cause guns, especially ones made without the sort of really good steel you just don't have, explode in your face.

To be clear, I think the NPCs should do the actual making of the guns.

The players should probably still be able to have input on the design.

I'm assuming anything not explicitly stated to need a player's help to do is actually done by an NPC, but I meant R&D. You currently have one pseudo-competent Homelander GMPC working from dim memory and little experience, he's not going to do a lot on his own with regard to fast research.
