Pretty much before Aenbarr and the better communicators spoke...
"Pardon my straightforwardness, Prince. But as a Prince, it is highly suggested that you listen to both sides of the story before you command the order to attack--it is unbecoming of a tactful strategist and a future leader of the people to do so! You can ask your warriors that we mean no harm: Nobody has died today other than those who are already departed."

In the current situation right after Cyryl speaks...
Recalling the old teachings within her thumb-book, Elysia compared the words of the frontier soldier and the nobility before her--it was usually HOW you say things that also leave a lasting point, no matter whether WHAT you say is right or correct. She was humbled as she remembered the villager's viewpoint.

She smiled at seeing others follow reason (and was happy to not be casting the same novitiate spells of Wind over and over again, despite that being her only knowledge).
"Cyryl, and all others, I think we should disarm. We're being spoken to reasonably, and given the presence of nobility as the speaker--it is being treated with reason, now. It doesn't look like the villagers understand the deeper concept of diplomacy, or maybe its us because of our concern for our dead, but where I'm seeing this is it'll lead down to more misunderstandings if we act stubbornly, so I suggest we all disarm and show them that we mean no harm; they'll get the hint, and by the looks of things, they aren't aiming to permanently-relatively-ultimately kill, too."

The prince turned to glare at the snake. He knew the law, he was the prince for Eclipse's sake, but despite that he was trying to settle this as peacefully as he could.

"There is no need for them to be disarmed immediately; unless my father rules otherwise, they are our guests. Guests that you and your commander share responsibility in attacking, I might add." The prince then turned to Cyryl again. "You must all come at once; even I can not bend the law that far. If you must, I will try to allow you your weapons, but you will have to give them up before meeting my father."

"That seems reasonable, or at least more so than the other... options, we were given." Hanna says, then turns to the others and waits for them to voice their opinions on the matter.

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

"Ah, the voice of reason, for once." She looked around and then stepped forward to face the Prince.

"Considering I do not carry weapons of any kind, you can take me to your King even now."

Valerie woof'd quietly, then remembered she was in doggy form and concentrated.

"It's not like we have a choice. It's either keep fighting until we knock everyone out - which, I mean, it's not like this is all the soldiers they have, I bet - or get knocked out ourselves, or just take him up on it. Soooooooo, yeah."

"...Okay. I'm willing to take you at your word." Cyryl let the point of his lance lower to the ground.

With the majority of the group agreeing to surrender (and not making rude gestures) the islanders lowered their weapons under direction from their Prince. The maids followed directly after the Prince, the mercenaries followed after them and the two lieutenants followed at the back. As they exited the forest the Prince barked out orders to the islands still up, telling them to retrieve their unconscious brethren and report to the castle. As they climbed the ridge the Prince flew ahead, leaving the maids in charge. When they arrived he was alone and waiting for them and after a few quick words with the lieutenants, after which they rode ahead, he resumed leading them.

Diplomancy successful! Party awarded 100 EXP!.

Map Complete!

The first sign of civilization that mercenaries saw were two imposing fortresses set not much farther than a stone's throw away from each other. A single glance at them and it was clear they had been to withstand a war. After the forts fields of crops provided the scenery until the group arrived at the castle town.

Nearly the second they stepped through the gates the lively town had silenced to look at them. As they made their way to the castle the citizens gave them more than a wide enough berth, sticking to the walls of the nearby buildings as best as they could. The only sound came from their continued steps on the street. The silence persisted into the castle up until they arrived at what must've been the door to the throne room when a guard finally spoke.

"Drop your weapons here," the guard grunted as they gestured towards a chest off to the side. The Prince looked at them expectantly.

Rydell stepped forward and laid his weapons in the chest before moving off to the side. While he did that, rings were handed out to the monsters. Isaac slipped his on, but there didn't really seem to be anything different about him.

"Oh, these are to prevent us from transforming, aren't they? That makes sense, you have monsters here too. Good. I'd prefer this to something like getting my teeth pulled. If you tried that I'd probably have to hurt some people terribly. What happens if a human puts one on?"

Val put hers on.

The guard nodded their head at Valerie's first question as the Prince answered her second question.

"Absolutely nothing; however, should the human somehow be a demon in disguise it would reveal their true nature. We, of course, learned this only by accident."

"Huh. Is that what happened with that last group that made all of you go 'must kill on sight rawr rawr rawr'?"

Val raised her fisted hands and stomped around in a kaiju mockery when she got to the air quotes in her question.

The Prince frowned.

"If you're referring to The Ancient Purge over 800 years ago then yes. Though... how you would know about it is beyond me. Tell me, where do you all come from?"

"Huh? No, I didn't mean that all. Your people just kept saying that we were exactly like the last group that landed here for some reason so they had to kill us. We kept trying to insist we were just wrecked here and we'd leave as soon as our ship was repaired but I dunno, guess they just didn't want to listen. And I'm from Pasive! It's on the continent... west of here I think? There was such a big storm I'm not sure where we ended up."
