Armach turns on his flash his flashlight and looks around wildly.
"Who was that?" The voice was familiar but he couldn't quite place it.
"You know who it is bitch." Armach turns around and spots the owner of the voice. "Oh, fuck."
He spotted, well, himself or at least something that looked exactly like himself.
It was his doppelganger, and Armach had some knowledge on the myths and stories about them.
That knowledge coupled with the fact that he felt a strange feeling telling him to kill the doppelganger or he would never leave this place left Armach with deep sense of sadness. "Fucking room."
"Would you get that light outta my face." The soft voice shook him out of his thoughts.
"Oh, sorry." He dims the light. "So, do you feel it too?" He spoke quietly.
The doppelganger gave a small nod. "How are we gonna do this."
"Well, we can't fight it out because we'd be evenly matched and the victor would probably just be all fuck up after the fight."
"Hey, yeah, that's what I was thinking too."
"Well, we are, you know, the same fucking person. So we leave it to chance."
"Fine, loser dies. How about Rock Paper Sissors? "
"Yeah, that's fine."
"Also let's not think to much about this, and just get it over with."
They stand across from one another and ready their hands.
"Rock, paper, scissors."
"Rock, paper, scissors."
Scissors and Rock.
Armach feels a small wind of relief rise in him, but it also carries a sense of disgust.
"Rock, paper, scissors."
"Rock, paper, scissors."
Scissors and Scissors.
Armach wipes some sweat that has collected on his forehead and doesn't dare to look up at his opponent, focusing only on the hands in front of him.
"Rock, paper, scissors."
"Rock, paper, scissors."
Rock and Rock.
"This is fucked!"
"I told you not to think about it."
"Fuck, it let's just flip a coin-"
"Heads!"
"Fuck, I flip the coin then."
Armach reaches into his pocket and pulls out a quarter.
"Ready?"
"Yeah."
He flips it high into the air and the quarter gleams as it passes through the rays of light from above. It lands nearby with a thud. They both move over to see what it landed on.
The victor can't help but feel the deepest sense of relief.
"Let's wait a couple of minutes before we..."
"Okay, we can lie down for a bit."
They both take off their backpacks off and lie down and stare at rays of light. After a what felt like an eternity of talking about the past and the future, they both decide it's time, and in a few moments only one person is left alive in the pit.
