In other news, what's to stop someone abusing the low life and instant manapools to just whip out a flurry of a couple burn instants and obliterate their opponent on the spot?

Priority and Combat range. You have to engage an enemy to hit them with a spell. If you are at Range, you can see them, but not hit them. When you enter close combat, you can cast spells or engage them. And when you lock combat with them, you are fighting each other with fists and swords and tooth and spell.

Also, Powder Miner, Put 1 in your color identity due to your human race. As a human, you can willingly draw colorless mana starting out.

Step 1: be blue or black. Stronkest coler.
Step 2: control.
Step 3: the older your spells, the better. New stuff is hella nerfed.

Note: the reason I say B or U for colors is because in Vintage, the colors are ordered as follows: white and green are terrible, red can win sometimes if you're lucky, black is OP, and blue wins.

Okay, so First thing you need is:

Gender: (As With name, What does your character identify as.)
Age: (How old is your character?)
Physical Age: (How old do they look?)
Home Plane: (Where are they from?)
Race: (What are they?)
Subrace: (If Applicable)
Background events: (What events define your character?)
Color Identity: (Determines which colors of mana you can draw.)

The first four descriptors are pretty obvious so they don;t need explaining.

Home plane is where you character is from, and typically determined by your Race and Sub race, though some races can be from anywhere.

Race and Subrace determines your looks and any bonuses you get.

Background events determines your Color Identity by defining the events that happened before you became a planeswalker.

Color Identity is what colors represent you character and, in turn, what mana you are able to draw from to cast your spells with. In my example, Mira can draw Green, White, and Red mana, since she is a Green, White, Red Planeswalker.
