First thing is that You have 5 points to spend on your stats. 1 BP can put 2 points in either Life, Poewr, toughness, or one point in two of them. Additionally, You Color Identity can increase your Stats as well, Example being that having BB Increases your Master by +2

Characters start with the following already in their stats:

Second, besides increasing your stats, you can Use BP to buy Keywords, Which modify how your character works.
 The Buyable Keywords are as follow:
For 1 build point players may purchase Reach or Changeling.
For 2 build points players may purchase Vigilance, Trample, or Flying.
For 3 build points players may purchase First Strike, Wither, or Poisonous
For 4 build points players may purchase Intimidate or Landwalk
For 5 build points players may purchase Absorb 1, Battle cry, Exalted, or Regenerate
For 6 build points players may purchase Deathtouch, Doublestrike, Lifelink, or Protection from a Color
Players may take Defender for an extra build point.

Ah, Any Named Creature or Legendary creature must first be met and befriended in order to be summoned. Legend rule applies.

Only one player may have a specific Legend summoned at a time. If an enemy summons the Legendary, then they have priority with it and you cannot summon it.
