Did anyone else notice their new jaws (particularly the upper portion) look like the classic smileyface if you focus on the grey bits?

But the chryssalids in EU/EW were already highly fragile. They had 8 health.
Thats enough to require multiple shots to put down with your average rifle.
Two good ballistic rifle hits. A good ballistic sniper, shotgun or lmg crit can already kill them in one. If they're even more fragile they'll go down easy.

Can't shoot what you can't see (;
Also, towards the end, talking about multiplayer...

and you can't move while you're invisible. You want to set it up as an anticipatory tactic where you see your opponent potentially move towards, and then you'll get a free attack on them if they move within this radius. That's a way to use it. You can unburrow anytime you want, but it's a nice way to ambush the player with the enemy with that specific skill.

Free attack from invisibility, and every attack is poisonous.  If they do this in single player too, battle-scanner type equipment or skills will be a wise investment.

I'm wondering why they would deploy unpredictable creatures (they're explicitly said to attack civilians) in their own cities.

They are not. This is clearly the work of those detestable XCOM terrorists.

Long shot, but I'm hoping for a mission where the aliens let loose a bunch of chrysallids on civilians and blame it on XCOM.  ADVENT soldiers come in to kill the chrysallids, but XCOM manages to arrive as well to clear their name.  Cue 3-way battle with very confused civilians in the midst.

They need something to make the world outside of the cities dangerous, and that something has to be scarier than the usual threats. If the new chryssalids weren't so scary, they'd never convince Australians to immigrate.

For one, we'd probably turn them into some sort of drinking game or work out a way to gamble on them. How many chryssalids does it take to kill a drop-bear? That sort of thing.

(my money is on seven).

Other than the proper nouns, this is the plot to the first 5 missions of StarCraft.  :D

   lol, you misspelled "and" there.
   Besides which, any motivated drop-bear, (withdrawing from its drug choice, for instance), will outperform several XCOM teams.

I just noticed an article about 'Thyc' :  http://www.thync.com/

From their webpage. E.g: "Thync uses low-energy waveforms to safely signal neural pathways, allowing you to de-stress and unwind in minutes, or boost your energy on demand."
The pictures and the entire concept looks looks like something from the Advert campaign, - but it is real, today!   :o
