Advent means "wait" or "anticipation", right? I do wonder what they are waiting for.

More like the arrival itself.  "Welcome to the advent of a new age" or "Prepare for the advent of our glorious alien overlords"

Though huh Christianity uses it differently.  It's a season of anticipation for the nativity celebration around Christmas.  Welp.

The idea is that it's anticipation of the arrival of J-Man himself.

Ah yes, looking at wiktionary it seems I was wrong about the meaning (they define it as "arrival, approach" there. I guess "approach" could be stretched into connotatinclude "anticipation", but yeah, not technically correct.

And you guessed it - I got my info on it from Christian sources and the advent period before Christmas ;)

ADVENT ensures its employees the best life can provide! And what's common in all employees? They all have regular contact with Meld, which makes them healthy and productive! Buy Meld-filled chocolate now and we guarantee your children will one day be embraced by ADVENT!

I'll have Raiden as my Ranger. That just seems fitting. With added cybernetic enhancements if it is an option.

Snake would have to be gene-modded. Not sure what class would cover his skills though.

On that note: Any news on whether we get gene modification or cybernetics? Seems like taking the more "alien" approach fits even less than in the previous game.

A sniper specced for gunslinging, or a ranger specced for stealth would probably be most fitting.

I honestly doubt we'll get cybernetics or gene modding. Cybernetics in the sense of EW (MECs) don't really make much sense given the stealth atmosphere of the game. Large exosuits like that don't really lend well to stealth.

As for gene modding, it seems like since the aliens do it with sinister goals, it'll solely be on the "evil" side and therefore not be used by XCOM.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!
