Goblins don't drink booze (unless someone sticks it in a mug and hands it to them, apparently).

Good, not like we have any anyway, because logically carnivorous stone-age hunter-gatherers don't comprehend things like brewing. :V

Guests do not drink or eat, until they join your civ.

True. Which still makes it hilarious that they visit a tavern that has nothing to offer them, even if they don't partake of it anyway.

If you get caravans, try buying booze, and setting it up in the tavern (with mugs), and assign tavern keepers. They *should* serve booze to their fellow kobolds, because tavern keeper job ignores [NO_DRINK]. See how well kobolds behave if they're drunk.

Any idea why all my cave moss and floor fungus is dying? The floor is muddy, and it's not trampling because my other muddied floor is completely sealed off, and the floor is still covered in dead sparse floor fungus, dead cave moss, etc.

Is it possible you double-flooded the area? Cave moss & floor fungus will drown in 3-4/7 water. If you flooded the area, it grew up, and then you flooded the area again, this would happen. And it takes a long while for new moss/fungus to grow up in the area afterwards.

so should I remove all the mud, flood to, say, 5/7 to get a good layer of mud, and then start over, not flooding the area a second time?

I don't get caravans, nyet. Didn't add the capability to the kobold civ, and all others are hostile. Which makes this goblin visitor, who I've pegged as a human-native from the looks of it (rope reed cloth means not goblin, metal scimitar means not elven), extra weird.

Also it's said goblin that has NO_DRINK, not the kobolds. Either way, if I wanted to start up a brewery I'd gather plants. XP

If you're on constructed floor, that's your best bet. If you're on what was originally natural stone floor, you can just build a dirt road over all the dead grass and it will start growing again in a little bit.

I'm using the Fortress defence mod for som extra enemies. I'm at year 5, many battles some mid scale when finally something bigger. A large invasion of gobos. upwards of 60 total and trolls, atleast 8. Not any threat but some fine target practice for my marksdwarfs. Moments later I get a message that there is an ambush. War Elephants are attacking. 20+. And a massive battle ensues between the invaders. Its a slaughter. The goblins doesnt stand a chance. As quikcly as they come they are wiped out. It was bloody and awesome.

No if only those pesky elefants could come charging at my defences instead of wandering about would be great.

It was inevitable. Meanwhile, back in kobold kamp...

Spoiler: screenshot (click to show/hide)

Anyone tried this idea of foiling climbers via an all-around moat and a high enough wall using blocks? :V
Have fun with trolls and toads. Hehehe...

I just discovered a small downside of having only two starting breeding clans. The first grandchildren don't have any friends. They only have uncles and aunts. I need another couple making grandchildren if they are to have any friends.

Trolls I can see being annoying, yeah. They're building destroyers anyway, so unless I build a wall they'll nope through my doors. ;w;

The Duke sent his wife, the Queen, to prison again. For exporting some of his precious scepters. (the masterwork lost with caravan bug seems to also have brought back export ban punishments even when the goods were traded while there was no ban). I'm still waiting for the day when he kills her with an adamantine warhammer.

I tested if you can tame crundles, and yes, you apparently can. Two of them are semi-wild as of now. Not sure what to do with them. Maybe they can be war trained to be cannon fodder against goblin sieges, I'll see once a few are tamed. If not they may make an "exotic" meat industry or sold off to caravans as subterranean pets that goblins won't offer.

Oh, awhile after I set up the first lethal trap, I looked and saw a plump helmet man chopped in two. (By a spiked wooden ball.)
