After quite an quite eventful year, or should I say 5 months since they arrived on 160-7-26, my dorfs finally settled down.
They built a 2 storied house and began their wrestling training.

A group of 8 wild boar men came to visit the new house. They were all peaceful explorers, so my dorfs just ignored them.

Animal People exist only for military training. Designate kill, more spawn, repeat.

I revel in their terror. Thrips woman screaming as their limbs are hacked away!!!! HAHAHAHAHA

my civilisation achievet "a few facts" about dragons and rocs, and all my workers except my military becomes horribly unsatisfied... all having "witnessed death of a goblin" x69 or so as negative experiences... damn undisciplined bastards^^ from now on only military carries death and refus and i walled in my refuse stockpile with a drawbridge preventing any dwarf from seeing piles of mutilated goblin corpses^^

I thought I would exploit myself some steel instead of tapping the blue stuff without a legendary to work it. I made the mistake of crafting gigantic axe blades when the only legendary I do have is the metalcrafter. So now I have 2 masterworked gigantic axe blades. Do I risk upsetting him to get that steel back? He is my goldmine, after all. The value of one of these is enough to buy a whole elven caravan, both together can buy a whole dwarven caravan, even after their insane markup on all the steel bars I asked for.

Found a nice new spot in a sand desert. The first artifact was a bone door. :)

decorating my dorfs rooms with stuff made out of stuff they like (mostly a second cabinet, a second chest and 2 statues. so my problem is one of my dorfs only likes native platinum (or at least thats the only thing i have at hand) if i smelt that into platinum and made it into furniture, will it still count towards his liking or is it just some crazy valuable cabinet^^

So now I have just one webber FB to deal with instead of two. I need some bait for a second FB trap. This time, though, I think I'll make it a live trap. Then when I get more FBs, I can let out the webber to kill them, then capture the one that wins.

No, you'll have to use the native platinum nugget to make that cabinet.
Make a stockpile for native platinum next to a masons workshop, set it to give to the mason, set the workshop to only accept your best masons, allow platinum nuggets in the z -> stones menu. Once you got the cabinet, forbid it again in the z -> stones menu, so it wont be used by your stonecrafters or other masons.

I just got a third webber FB in the same cavern. This one was a spider with a poisonous bite. It lost against the sauropod, despite the fact that the latter was crippled from many fights with powerful cave creatures.

EDIT: A fucking jabberer. Just killed. A web-spitting FB. A web-spitting FB that had killed two other web-spitting FBs. Let that sink in. I have a named jabberer wandering the caverns. I am capturing this extreme bro-dawg ASAP. He will be the father of generations of domesticated jabberers.

Started a new terrifying glacier embark. It's honestly kinda tame. The goblin blood snow is freaking out my dwarves and the Ice Wolves keep attacking them, but there's no sign of reanimation or syndrome inducing weather.

Not a lot of middle ground with evil biomes. They're either easy or instakill.

The dwarven caravan arrived! I'm surprised they didn't immediately flee, considering what they have wade through to get to my fort.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
You haven't been able to see the ground since summer, just goblin blood snow as far as the eye can see.

Also since my fort was in lockdown when they arrived the wagons "bypassed my inaccessible site". Not that it matters much, I haven't had a chance to produce anything to trade to them anyway. Deconstructed the depot to take everything their pack animals brought, and built a new entrance to the right to allow me to have the depot accessible while still keeping the fort sealed.

You can just build your trade depot  beyond your draw bridges. But consider there are probably plenty of "accidents" on evil biome, you can just wait to loot their dropped goods.

True, but I always build my depot inside a drawbridge so i can protect the caravan if something nasty shows up.

You can even make two bridges and put your depot between them. After they finished unloading, close the outer one to seal them and open the other one to trade. No one can leave until you let them.
