It appears that one of my most trusted soldiers is upset because he lost both of his hands. :-X
I lay my hope on him, let him become a biter with notorious jaws. I gave him a cognomen: Rautaleuka= the Iron Jaw and gave him a very skillful warriortress for a teacher from previous immigrant wave in order to improve his eloquence a little.

Woah, the exact same thing happened to me. Both of 'Handyman''s hands were just bitten off by a tortoise. I made him the Champion.

Just got an artifact diorite scepter, called the Magic of Roses. Featured prominently are two images of a legendary armorsmith making high boots. Both the moody dwarf and the armorsmith are guys (and the armorsmith is married with kids). The storyteller in me wants to interpret this as a monument to unrequited love, as well as a thing for high boots.

Tossed a few naked goblins for my dragon to have fun with. One thing I noticed is that despite several generous rations of dragonfire were served, the goblins were completely unharmed by it, I really expected them to melt or something.

Bit disappointing really.

The fortress of Usankol just experienced two simultaneous ambushes: one by a Bugbear force, and the other by a tcho-tcho force (a custom race of my own creation: think an entire race of Gollums). I sent out my militia to dispatch them, and they acquitted themselves wonderfully. The Bugbears and Tcho-tcho were wiped out to a man.

Highlights include:

  • A Bugbear biting off the recruit Ablel Odshiterith's tongue before getting slaughtered by the rest of the militia:
  • Speardwarf Tulon Gusilalmosh personally racking up seven kills against the Tcho-Tcho ambushers, with Fikod Olongisek following with five kills.

Some random miner made a legendary Nether-cap blowgun.
Since we can produce blowguns and their ammo, I have made a group of soldiers perched on the "bridge" between the crossbow tower and the bow tower.

I tamed a Voracious Cave Crawler and a Giant Cave Swallow. The bird was further trained to be a hunting animal, but, sadly, the Crawler cannot be trained for war.
Going to leash it up near my entrance in case of an ambush, a thief, a snatcher or a siege, though.

Okay, that is just hilarious.
Also, two of the four corner-bound archer towers are complete, with the third underway, and a tunnel from the tower (it's embedded in the glacier) to the rest of the fort is being dug out.
Early-warning goblin-slaying is always a good thing.
Also archers.

Love animals. You catch one and the rest just stay near the captured one thinking he might get free.

Also a kobold thief camed. Its name is Dingis.

one day he will be able to. ^^

Embarked on an untamed wilds mountain/badlands, with half the badlands being evil as well.  Thought I was in for fun for about a season, without surface trees, water too.
So when life showed up instead of undead I was happy to dig out a quick niche to run to.

Well, a year in, just before spring, and its safe enough to send 2 spare. conscripts (part-time farmer/ pt warriors)up to smooth a path to my TD, which now occupies mu 'niche'.

Of note, my well goes to the first cavern from the surface, and right by is a passage to deeper.
Also lost a dwarf to a troglodyte, who busted a markdwarf's hand, then wounded another
And two fell into the dry well because of sloppy designations.  I rushed to provide water for the trog victim anf got sloppy.  It cost my picked leader of the future, minersquad his lower spine.

In a nutshell, limited tree and water, my fort is spread out over 50zlevels, stunted growth, but plenty of food.  Abundent soil layer for grazing, farm.

Also the idk if it animates, but the rain causes bruises serious enough to make a dwarf run to the hospital to rest.  and Ive yet to fiind any of the promised flux stone

Tried to sell a caged Troll to some elves. The Troll somehow got free and managed to kill all the elves before the squad I had waiting around the corner immediately dispatched to help arrived.

Selling caged creatures (at least hostiles) to caravans tends to not work, though usually the creature will just be killed by the caravan guards.

One of my forts might be slightly doomed. Embarked by a volcano in a terrifying biome (though so far the only effect is slightly dangerous wildlife and dwarf blood rain). Was going well for a while, but I haven't quite gotten used to Masterwork's harder farming, so my farms aren't big enough, and I haven't seen any other caravans than the first dwarven one. So I ran out of both food and booze.
Then a whole bunch of new migrants arrived. Butchered the few animals I had and got all available hands out picking weeds, but that latter could lead to some unfortunate deaths with the wildlife.

Then I noticed my fps suddenly got low (was playing on an old laptop). Seems I was a bit careless digging out a gold vein, and poked a hole in the volcano. Luckily this was near the bottom of the mine shaft, so only lost one miner.

Quick! I need a project to help keep me interested in my fort for the summer: Megaproject, Science!! experiment, or otherwise.

There is currently a minor problem in that the veteran demons fighting in the corpse factory have failed to die in the 2 year battle and have become legendary unkillable gods of war. I may have misjudged this possible outcome.

Build a utopia, but after the first 7 no dwarves can be older than 20 years old without being sacrificed in a magma pit to please Armok.

My fortress greatly needs more Adults. Hopefully the greatness that is Armok will rain down boiled migrants after he saves them from the extension of his bubbling magma-blood in your fort.

A child just made an artifact. It is a figurine of one of my legendary bone carvers making a figurine. At least the kid's a legendary stonecrafter now, and she'll grow up in a year.
