Decided to start a new fort to get that hilldwarf community going...
on top of a stream deviding a dense forest from a sinister mountain range.

I started out fairly prosperous with the standard team. one small home built, nearby lakes made safe with ramps a small strawberry farm and about to start smelting that limonite nearby.
Then a herd of skeletal Yak attacked.
reclaim- standard team. before the stream defrosted, another Yak invasion ended the fun, the pallisade only half finished.
reclaim- every dwarf now has mandatory basic combat training plus we got ten wardogs.
An undead badger army stampeded through the village, no problem but they are fast!
The carpenters refuse to build on the wall, there are goodies and corpses outside to haul in.
We have three ghosts haunting us now...that might also be a factor in the overall reluctance to work in the compound.

ed: I have some slabs and casKets in line, but those haunted socks are more intresting...;) at least the catacombs are ready.

engrave some slabs or make some coffins

over here bone and shell stockpile almost under controll. A human caravan was kind enough to sell all their metal items for 35.000 urist worth of bone and shell crafts, suckers, we have at least another 50.000 worth and they weren't even haggling

Instadeath paralysis syndrome via deadly dust FB. I was arrogant and assumed my marksdwarves could take him out to keep access to the undergorund trees (volcano embark - no easy treefarm places) and huge amounts of silk open. He ran right by them into my lower fort and proceeded to infect pretty much everyone, who died within seconds of contactng the dust. Annoying.

Migrants appeared in my fort, thus luring the Roc. Initial 7 then rushed to get their clothes. Roc killed those too. Fort is dead, yay.

After having all of their skin and fat rot away and casts and splints applied to every part of their body, my militia dwarves are back on their feet and ready to fight again!

Giant threw a wrestler into a tree (he blew up) then raped a marksdwarf face with a knife. :(

The Hellraiser death of Ngom Ngebzoespo
« Reply #17697 on: December 15, 2011, 04:34:51 pm »

Ngom Ngebzoespo was a swordgoblin and a damned good one. He led his ambush squad of hammergoblins close to the dwarven gate before a civilian dwarf stumbled over them and shrieked the alarm. What Ngom didn't know was that the military was still trickling into the gates after driving off a human siege. His squad was swarmed by war animals almost instantly, even before they could run down that pesky dwarf. Ngom cut down a war dog, and then two war grizzlies, but he could hear the guttural shouts and cries as his troops met their ends at the hands of arriving dwarven troops.

It was time to go but suddenly he had no time. He attempted to break through the surrounding ring. That's when two bolts slammed into his legs, fracturing his thighbones. Then it happened. WHAM WHAM WHAM indescribable agony tore through his torso. Blood erupted out of his mouth as he managed to get his shield up in time to block yet a fourth weapon from violating his chest cavity. Blindly he swung back at them but then he felt the white fire of the blades inside turn and hook into various organs and ribs. And PULL.

Ngom died then.

I reclaimed the Roc fort to get vengeance (and also because it's a pretty cool embark). The Roc is no longer there. Confused am I.

EDIT: Roc was stealthed, it's now beating the beards out of my new embark team.
