Someone was sleeping on a tree which had a 4-tile trunk. :P
I had to build a stair to rescue him.

Edit*

My fort looks strange in stonesense. You can't see any entrance from the picture. The top levels have some funny looking walls because I used various kinds of materials to build them.

A... human siege? I knew they were at war with me but I can't believe it took them eight years to get an army to siege me. Also, they're being led by a human with an elven name. First sign of elves I've seen in ten years. There is only one squad of humans, this should be easy. I'm sending the military minus the new recruit.

Wow. That was the most pitiful siege I've ever seen. Everyone got caught in cage traps except for one bowman who left before the military even got there.

A giraffe got loose while mass pitting caged animals. A trained owl flew out of its pasture to go peck at it, and was doing pretty decent damage. The giraffe went berserk and the owl had the sense to get the hell out of there. The dogs did not. Two war dogs and a hunting dog were killed in no time, two of them pets. The guard caught the giraffe and beat it senseless with their training weapons -- I think it's time to get them real weapons. Fortunately the real army had a barracks a few steps away, so I got the one closest to the exit to attack, and he quickly sent him to the butcher, which was also conveniently close.

Forgotten beasts and titans need webs over their cage traps if you want to catch them. Do you have GCS yet? There's also the option of a bridge trap using live bait or artifact buildings.

The lead pyramid is almost done.

So should I fill my moat with magma or water? Water would be easier, but magma...

...why not both? Keep reservoirs of lava on the walls above the moat (filled with water) and pour molten/obsidiany death down on any poor sucker who tries to take a dip.

Or build a second moat around the first moat. Fill the outer with water and the inner with magma. Because why not.

Unfortunately, it's going to require some serious planning to get magma up there. I think I'll choose magma because it's a challenge and because it's more dwarven.

My fort ran out of booze.
I requested too many blocks, stones, leathers, bars and logs from the mountainhome so their wagons don't have space to store booze...

But everyone was happy enough to drink from wells so I just prevented I didn't see the problem.  :P They complained when I didn't have any well though.

Quite dissapointed to find that the poison gas spewing FB that showed awhile ago died off-screen at some point  :(

As a consolation prize Armok sent me a new one, a blob of water that spits webs. One good hit was all that I needed, but getting anyone close enough would be tricky. Thankfully I was able to sacrifice two civilians to lure it into an open area so my all melee militia could take it down without losses.
