year 10, almost summer. my badgers somehow managed to breed after i geldet them, perhaps they spored before the gelding took place, but even then are both my males asexual (i was hoping to supress any rage they could get through gelding, that works by some males in reallife at all^^) but all 4 are female.. so wayne more training and perhaps more for my civ in knowledge^^ than i got a strange bug during a mood, caused by a gamecrash. now i have my whole map revealed with exclusion on hell and adamantine. well my refuse house is getting its roof finally. got another guest, this time a titan... i am thinking about letting my ettin, cyclops, giantess and minotaur fight it out , or building some kind of anti goblin trap with those 4^^

I managed to complete the second level of my lead pyramid. I caught a giant leopard, my jabberers are hatching, and my first giant echidnas are growing up. The spider FB in the second cavern keeps eating my goblin captives and not getting hurt, so I think I'll just wait for a stronger FB with no webs to show up and kill it.

Into year 5, which means only 4 years have passed...it's supposed to get interesting after 5 years or on the 5th year? Now I have 6 legendary miners with time on their hands, so I put them in an informal unit and they spend their free time training fighting skills to make the most of their picks. Still no legendary weapon or armorsmiths, but I've cracked out a few bits of the blue stuff to hold in reserve for a mood.

I'm preparing to crack the 3rd cavern, bypassing the 2nd and not doing much with the 1st other than drowning it. The logistics of running the magma works is just getting too hairy, and I haven't been able to generate the power to bring magma up to the shops, so I'm going to form a self-supporting little satellite community down there. I should get some construction into every cavern, so I have some control over how an FB approaches, but I expect the first attack to be from a titan, and my outdoors security has already taken too much effort for too little gain. Fortifying outside is way more trouble than it's worth, but the land is so rich in food that I've never had to farm except for textiles.

The game, unable to get at my four legendary animal trainers any other way, has begun trying to trap them in trees. My woodcutters are on constant alert against the woody threat.

I managed to create a dwarven water reactor that won't shut off. I've closed the hatches covering the intakes to the water pumps, no water is being pumped, and the lower level is entirely 7/7 water. The water wheels are still running at full power. This is 20 z-levels below the brook, and the water doesn't display any flow animation. Weird, but cool I guess. Six hundred power and no flowing water. I guess I could make a brake to stop it but I'd need to pull over six hundred power, that's a lot of gears.

still wondering what i can do with my 2k water wheel factory. if i struck lava i think i will pump it directly under the river to prevent freezing in winter^^ or burn the damned forest to ashes^^

EDIT://

well, my carpenter got a mood... as armorsmith... i thought those moods only happen with the highest skill... but well whatever^^ now i have a third legendary armorsmith. oh and my collection of useless armor legendarys is growing by the season:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
if i get one more of those, i will strap them onto my baron, and if i get a whole set of useless artifact armor, i will post the whole list into the "paint this dwarf" thread^^ and as i got a few armorsmith dwarfs that at least got that skill and are only working as engravers/haulers/furnace operators i think i will get a few more with some "luck"

So, just did a savage tundra/mountain embark with a volcano and some aquifer. 2x2 embark.

The tundra is apparently more like a freezing sand desert. There are apparently two blueberries outside, absolutely nothing more.

Revealing for a bit... all I need, a bit of sedimentary layer, some annoying aquifer in conglomerate (but it will bring me water), marble underground, coal, no magnetite but enough hematite and a bit of limonite, some obsidian next to the surface... Very good embark site apparently.

There's only one cavern and it's not too deep, except the adamantine tube is apparently 95 z-levels high, the magma sea spans a total of 70 z-levels (it's more like a magma slope) and it is apparently cut into three different parts by the SMR (possibly more)... what else ? There's 58 -levels of semi-molten rock as well.

oh my fucking armok 3664 raw adamantine tiles

i know my advanced worldgen parameters are pretty metal but still... and I make them so I have the least numbers of z-levels possible :P

A fish cleaner's skills rusted so far that he became a peasant. I drafted him into the military as a new recruit. Also, another tree grew under one of my animal trainers.

Took a break from modding and started a vanilla fortress

For the first time in forever I didn't embark on a flat ground ((I'd do anything for some more FPS but this time I decided fuck it)) and, as normal, I embarked in a Joyous Wilds biome, heavily forested.

Pooled a bunch of my starting cash ((I start with 2500)) into some sapphires to take with me, and when the first caravan rolled in I spent it on cloth and leather; stuff I'll be able to get in a couple years, but for now I'll import it. Soon I'll start importing metals like platinum for roadworks.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

THE WORLD SHALL SOON FEEL MY WRATH

EDIT: And right after that, the fifth and final GDS in this area stepped onto the map and into a cage trap. What a coincidence.

Ten years of Bastiongate!

Elite Marksdwarf Risen passed away today at the ripe old age of 155. He will be missed by his wife and many children, including the baron himself. He never made any significant kills, but he was a legendary +5 marksdwarf and kept the giant sparrows at bay. His last thoughts were of talking to his spouse.

His niece Shearer Zon also passed away at the age of 159. She outlived all her relatives and friends, her husband and children being killed or kidnapped long before she came to the fortress. She will be missed too.

I have accomplished much in this fortress. Countless artifacts, many legendary workers, a legendary military, a sprawling compound, a few megaprojects, and a lot of domesticated animals. This fortress will go down in the halls of memory.

The smaller still can barely support 68 dorfs. And the bee hives in the kitchen keep stinging random dorfs. But being stung doesn't seem to have any negative effect. ::)

The Ettin Snexa Usektudo Stostodgas has come!  A giant humanoid monster with two heads.

My leather clad sqads did a god job. No one got hurt.

I put my outpost liaison in the place of Zefon, since he has some crossbow experience. He might as well be useful for something. I'm beginning to think my animal trainers are just stupid because one ended up in a tree that was definitely there before. It had a four-tile trunk.
