Like seriously love at first sight would result in a MASSIVE, CITY-SHATTERING EXPLOSION.

It's technically possible for him to develop positive emotions that strong because spoilers, but the sheer weight of reality itself attempting to reject that fact makes it so that unless it's done at glacier-like speed, bad things happen.

And there are some, odd side effects. Since he could still develop love, it's just that, his thought processes would point it to something else.
So "Tor loves Larissa" would end up becoming distorted in his mind into "Tor lolcats Larissa" or something equally nonsensical.
