More or less. It's a Qalupalik, an Inuit myth. Problem is they're all evil, so I'm gonna have to be an abandoned orphan or something. Just so you can get a feel for what I'm going for here, here's a snippet/omake I wrote for a quest on another forum that used them.

Taktuq swept her palm across the surface of her latest work, studying it for any flaws. She came here to create her art when the frustration built, as it did now. The Black God had promised much and yet delivered little; a few captives in exchange for the deaths of many of her kinsmen and the blood-in-shark-nose fury of this Semei was hardly an equal bargain like he had convinced the elders, now was it?

A sigh shook her frame and sent flurries of bubbles through her gills as the Qalupalik contemplated the fate of her people. The elders had made a terrible miscalculation to be sure, but was it salvageable? Could the breeding programs - already horribly oppressive - be tightened even further to prevent inbreeding and keep the People strong? If they faced any other foe she would have said yes, but this Semei... The land-dweller shoe-gen-ga could do many terrible things and she would not put it past them to be capable of finding the People even here.

A powerful foe above, the denizens of the deeps preventing them from retreating any further and a single ally who would treat their lives like a whale would treat krill. Truly the fate of her race had never been bleaker and the elders could not see it, blinded by visions of the world when they were spawn, with land-dwellers cowering in fear and lives ripe for plunder.

How long had it been now? Centuries at least - by all the Spirits, may the Deeps take them, the time of the Qalupalik had surely passed and this was their last huzzah, their final legacy before they vanished for good. Most would rail at such a fate, but the People were cold in their thinking and had long accepted that they could be wiped out.

At least for now, there was her art. Perhaps... no. Removing the eyes by claw marred the skull later on and it wasn't certain that she would get another subject. Luckily the symbols carved subtly into the bone were holding it in place, both in the physical world and the spiritual plane. This one could be left for a while... Sooner or later the small scavengers would take the eyes. With a flick of her powerful fins Taktuq propelled herself out of the small grotto. Behind her the boy who had once been called Nikkō watched as a fish began to pick at the remaining flesh on his ribs.

I think if your race would be considered perfectly human but with magical non-human things you could be considered a normie.
With the exception of Jana, because she is in essence Steve Rogers, post-serum, but a girl.

Finally, someone who caught that. Yukari happens to be my favorite Persona character (short of Koromaru, Naoto and Eikichi, but they're all ensemble darkhorses).

She's semi-based off Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket (love of cats, Zodiac relation, other things which won't be obvious just yet) and a couple of my own characters (most definitely one character who I refuse to speak of because he was completely shit). I was just conflicted between choosing to base my character off the two that I decided to try and mash them together.

Which won't end well.

I actually caught that at the beginning, just didn't mention it. My favorites are Naoto, and Mitsuru.

Since I'm doing this on the assumption that they're a full on race there needs to be way to breed... Guess I'm going with Hermaphrodite then. Because I'd never take the chance to ship my character away from you ShipCrazy psychos.

Gender: Woman, just because I have no idea what pronoun to use for people who identify as both genders.

Age: 17

Description: Maggy is a bit shy when it comes to meeting new people, but once some time has passed she is as good a friend as any other you could find. Naturally, she can breathe underwater and cold does not bother her, but other 'traits' that her Qalupalik heritage gives her are; the ability to move silently, exceptional hearing/sense of smell and great strength. Not to mention she does live up to her name...
