What do you think?
Acceptable, but be warned: If I pick Svante, I'm likely to give you synergistic cards that don't really pair up, like a goblin warlord that boosts goblins, but not give you other goblins. (Of course, you having a goblin warlord might influence encounter creation.)
I'm totally down with this. In fact, it fits the character perfectly in a sense. He doesn't really think about it in terms of deck strength, he's just infatuated with the idea of synergy.

Sounds interesting. Haven't personally played Magic, though I play Yu-gi-oh, which I heard was based on Magic...
Anyway, I'l throw up a sheet in here soon.

((I was hoping for a pair each of adults and children, preferably with one adult that loved the game and one that didn't.))

Chaos filled the stands. There was a roaring dragon, right there, but there was nowhere to escape to in the crowded room.

The dragon killed several people near it before jumping through a wall. The remnants of that wall look unstable.

The four of you are in a rather large room, each roughly in the middle of the seating area. Benches form a box around a central tournament area, now badly wrecked. Giant screens over the center and spaced intermittently above aisles display static or are disabled, where once they showed the tournament. There is a hole in the north wall. Panicked crowds are packed together, screaming while trying to escape. There is no sign of either finalist. There is no sign of an authority figure.

Dragons aren't real.

"Dragons!" says Garth, raising his arms up in excitement. "Dragons," he then repeats much more curiously, letting them fall by his sides.

Check up on the dead people unless it's blatantly unsafe to do so. Are they burnt to a crisp? Poke them with my foot.

"What...the...hell. This is surreal." Jason mutters to himself, unmoving from the surprise and confusion of the event. He feels as though he is dreaming when he manages to regain control of his body, and his hand drifts to his pocket as he searches for his phone.

Search through pockets for phone and to take stock of what I have. If I find my phone, take pictures or video of the damage. Maybe it would make for a neat illustration on a card later.

"Yo, is this part of some kind of half time show? I don't know about this, it looks like some kind of fireworks display went really wrong." He says, looking around him. His gaze stops on the kid poking dead people. "Hey, kiddo, where are your parents?"

Make sure the kid poking the dead people doesn't get hurt. Also look for a safe(ish)  way outside

Garth looks back at the guy talking to him. He looks at the corpses, then at the guy. "Dead!" he replies, grinning. "Dead to a man! And my granny's..." he looks at the exit, and notices a brief flash of a pink shawl and a cut-off scream of somebody in the crowd getting unexpectedly elbowed in the throat. Granny's a great believer in 'every man for himself', this he knew. "My granny's gone, too," he says, and something occurs to him. His mouth forms a perfect O, and his eyes go wide. "I'm free! Yee!" he says, raising his arms as if having won some sort of victory.

Johan watches as the kid flails his arms around. He must be slightly mentally challenged and in deep shock over the loss of his relative. He can't just let this little rascal die. "Hey, how about we stick together, champ? Find us a way out of here?"

Wait a minute... Someone somewhere probably played "meteor", "eldrich horror", or "apocalypse" right after the cards became magical. If the world doesn't end that way, the game designers are probably going to print themselves uber cards and rule the world with them.

Shit, he's weird and paranoid "Well" Johan points at the dead people "They're dead. If we stay here, we'll probably also be dead before long. And if we stay together, we can probably get out of here faster. Like when there's a door with buttons on either side that need to be pressed at the same time, you know?"

"Dragons don't strike one place twice, dummy!" Garth says to the strange man. "And maybe these dead people have cards, I 'unno! I've never seen a dead guy before, it's so cool!"

Check myself for my possessions. Wallet, deck, phone, etc.

"You guys mind if I stick with you as well? I'm not sure if this applies to dragons, but I've always heard there is safety in numbers..."
