So, we have a man in a box. A listless drifter in a probably magical box, traveling throughout the endless reaches of all of reality, going on various adventures and seeing strange things, perhaps on the run from a past.

But this is not his story. This is the story of those picked up along the way, the traveling buddies on this inter-cosmic road trip, sharing in adventures with him and each other, beginning their own journeys.

Basically, this is a freeform-RP idea I had, which won't take nearly so much planning as some of the others I have in the works. The premise allows for series of little adventures in a huge variety of settings, pretty much anywhere imaginable. But it'll need player characters, and quality ones at that. Bear in mind that we have the entire infinite multiverse for them to originate from, but they should probably have a reason for joining up with a weird inter-dimensional traveler, and not be so powerful as to solve whatever problems the party encounters, thus rendering adventuring moot (or requiring us to constantly face cosmic-level threats just to be interesting).

Seriously, though, throw at me what-have-you, and we'll discuss (and eventually choose) characters in this thread. Multiverse travel provides ample opportunity for picking up and dropping off characters, but quality and dedication may be prioritized.

May or may not put up some kind of character sheet format, but with the sheer number of options available, I sure as hell won't be coming up with a unified stat system any time soon.

Name: Sheotl
Title: (former) High Scholar . Telolotl University. Telolotan
Description: A humanoid lizard of dark green skin tone, his eyes are a pale orange. A wispy beard grows from his chin, seemingly natural despite the impossibility of it happening. While his clothing seems to vary, a dirty brown satchel always seems attached to his person, containing his personal belongings. At the very bottom of the satchel is a small piece of parchment that never seems to rot. Written in a very rare language, it reads simply: "We miss you very much - Sasa and Rotyl (PS, mom and dad say hi!)"
History: Living in Telolotan under the megalomaniac rule of self-styled King Telolotyl was interesting, horrifying and at the same time a mistake Sheotl would never regret. He had spent much of his younger years wasting away at the Emperor's personal library. Oh yes, he was a brilliant spirit-caller and had a side-career as a demon hunter but for the most part, Sheotl was little more than a clerk serving an Emperor who's Empire barely paid attention to him. Tired of his life, he eventually packed his bags for the Curiates, the archipelago at the western edges of the Empire. It had always been home of society's malcontents but it was also a place of innovation and discovery. In the Curiates, pirates could conquer an island, becomes kings and be hanged the same day. It was the perfect place to live out his golden years. After some run-ins with a would be demon cultist, Sheotl eventually accepted a offer from the newly-crowned king of Telolotan, Telolotl. He had been crowned the week before Sheotl was offered the job, and it quite clearly showed by the 'university' described in the letter. Little more than a warehouse and a few sheds, Sheotl smiled and shrugged, knowing that getting off the island was going to be difficult. He thus spent the next few decades of his life in research, helping the regime in whatever way he could. As such, when the king's emissary brought in a peculiar crystal from the distant Ztah Steppes, Sheotl barely questioned it. The gem seemed to have a magical effect; it could open small portals in space. As a scholar, such a material was of course greatly curious to Sheotl. After years of trying to procure more, he hit the motherlode and got a crate full of it. This of course, soon resulted in a Mistake. The portal, it seemed, was far too large. Far, far too large. Seeing no other reasonable option, he sacrificed an assistant to the spirits, closing the portal. What Sheotl forget to do however, was specify to the spirit that he didn't want to be sucked in. Sheotl, as it would turn out, soon had little care for this Mistake, discovering the vast worlds Beyond.

Koi is a KX9 64. Aka a walking psionically based, mass fleet transit enabling ftl drive should he be plugged into a suitable psionic amp. Without an amp, only smallish ships, such as shuttlecraft are able to fit through the holes, with a likelyhood of a short comatose state following after the jump. Smaller, personsized portals are fine. Usually limited to LOS, and often not particularly accurate. They could be accurate if a 64 could be bothered to practice with them, and technically could result in what would be effectively telefragging, but like most KX9 psions, they suffer from chronic lack of motivation to do anything, including practice. They are at their best just lounging around. Although they do occasionally find something abnormal and fiddle with it for a while.

KX9 64's are one of the two pre70 KX9 that can consistently open rips in space to the Rabbithole, a stable pocket dimension that has slowly gotten larger over the years which the KX9 have colonized. Unlike 63's, 64's only can make temporary portals. However 64's can actually do stuff without needing to sync with nearby KX9 for the mental input.

Odds are is Koi made a mishop with his shuttle and ended up somewhere.. Not where he should be, possibly somewhere psionics don't work. And likely encountered the Traveler out of happenstance.

Koi has dark brown fluffy hair down to the small of his back, he has brown cat ears and a brown cat tail. His skin is fairly pale. He is about 5'7 in height. He has retractable claws, as well as fangs. Sharp fangs. Koi normally wears a grey hoodie and fairly loose athletic sweat pants. His left eye is a bright blue and his right eye is a deep, brilliant green.

Note: getting stranded in another dimension isn't a requirement. It's alright for people to encounter our magic-box-owner on their home turf. Though in Koi's case, perhaps "needs a lift home" would be necessary to motivate him to adventure.

Well, soon as Koi gets into a universe he can access the rabbithole through, he could simply hop home, or if the groupmind suggests for him to stay longer, he could do that as well. Or not. Really depends on his mood.

State of life: Male, Adult.
Appearance: He doesn't look much beyond average, but his pure black hooded cloak is clearly a defining feature.
Background: No was a powerful warlock of the Nevermore clan, using the power of his Evil Eye to obliterate all resistance against him. On a whim, he entered a mage's deathmatch, and got ripped in two by a troll. Of course, now he's alive again, somehow.
Abilities: No may be a bit frail, but he makes up for this with the Evil Eye: a powerful magic ability which causes physical and mental harm to sentient beings from a distance, however if overused, the caster may end up temporarily going blind.

Having an evil character could be interesting. Though you're welcome to make more anyway, might increase your chances of getting in. Due to the premise, characters from other games may be perfectly acceptable.

Fune is a member of the Nang Tien, a race of tiny humanoids living among other species on many different planets. They all originated from the same mysterious homeworld and they all have enormous (in proportion to themselves) artificial wings attached on their back, allowing unlimited flight. Strangely, even if they have not visited the planet in person, all Nang Tien have extensive knowledge of creatures on any planet their race inhabits. Fune's wings give off a bright, golden glow, obscuring her features and giving her the appearance of a ball of light with wings attached.
She travels with the Traveler (hee) to assist them in their Travels and provide insight on the denizens of various planets.
