While it is alright to feel despair it is a sin to linger in it, Rather you should let it run its course then move onwards.
Apathy is the gravest of sins, for by not caring you cease doing, Wasting away into a mere husk of who you could be.
For lingering in either prevents you from moving onwards. Stagnation leads to death but not life.

We ought to mutate only a fraction of C if we're going that route. If said change goes badly and it ends up causing a mass extinction, only some of the population will be affected. If it goes well, it'll be a cheap way of introducing a fourth or more species which - in my opinion - is better than three. Either way, it'll be easier to alter a fraction of a species than all of a species.

A will be eating B. B requires the blood geysers in order to grow and not be entirely destroyed by A. Also, the colonies of B were described as being competing. Even if the blood geysers provide too much nutrition, the different colonies will promptly sort themselves out and we might even get some new species or sub-species.

Yep, we just pump more nutrients in ecosystem but it is still a finite resource. In fact it is a resource to compete for(and place of worship much, much later).
