If you really think it's that dangerous, perhaps we should move on. I don't see how else that creature could've come to be in here though, if there isn't a path somewhere inside that well. There's only one corpse in here; it needs to feed somehow.

Essel makes a face when she raises her voice. Essel puts down his pick and takes off his leather armor and helmet. Slope gets my stuff if I'm right and I get eaten by monsters. He unties the bucket and instead fashions a loop for his foot. As he descends, he has his other arm wrapped around the rope and keeps his hand outstretched against the wall of the well to give him stability. In his other hand he clutches his sunmote so he can see clearly. He examines the walls around him until he reaches the water below. He makes sure to signal those above to stop if he sees something unusual or before he touches the water.

"Well, good luck...tug three times on the rope, if need us to pull you back up.

If you're in the belly of a horrible creature, or something, tug five times, and we'll know to let you go. Wouldn't want to upset the monsters digestion..." She chides.

Action: Hold the rope and prepare to pull Essel up, or at least a leg or something.

And I'd have time to tug a rope...? If you're trying to make a point, milady, you're failing in spectacular fashion. Essel wasn't the type to allow himself to be wound up, but he found this woman insufferable.
