Chance, remaining silent, attempted again.

Once the energy began to flow, the Prince, Princess and their companions began to be engulfed in thick tendrils of magic.

Then there was crackling across the bracelet and tiny lightning and sparkles began to hit random bits of the air around in the hall. The villagers began to scream and panic and run away at this display of magic previously unseen.

The process was taking far too much time than previously. Is the weak magic of this world interfering...?

White-blue-red-pink-bright yellow lights flooded the eyes of everyone present... then pink-red-blue-silver-lime green as well, before there was thunderous boom and everyone splattered on a field of black dirt and dead grass. The air was still and stale and left a taste of ash in everyone's mouths.

Something was wrong.

Very, very wrong.

~~Chapter 3: Absence of Presence~~

"This... what... this isn't the Palace."

"Thank you, Rosana, without your acute perception I wouldn't notice." Rosana let out a huff.

"Apologies, sister..."

"The air is very stale. And look! The grass is dark too. Have you perchance noticed, dear brother?"

"..."

"..."

"Yeah."

"I'm sorry."

"Dry air, dry jokes."

"Ali!"

"Heh. So." He looked around. As much as he could see, everyone in his group was transported to this place as well. "Anyone has any idea where are we? Are we in Miccah? I heard there are some sandy and dry valleys in there..."

Chance, reeling, grit his teeth as he came back to his senses.
: "It's... not the prior world... I wouldn't... quite call it ours either. Something's not right."

[Swordstar]

"This seems more like ash than sand. It isn't anything like I remember. This is certainly not Miccah unless something terrible happened. Does your sensor thing detect a shard here? Perhaps we simply got sent to another world instead."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Miccah isn't burnt and blackened like this, no."

[GiglameshDespair]

"Then we should be wary. We don't know what beasts may be about - monsters or men both."

She drew her sword, and held it low as she looked around for any structures or landmarks... or creatures.

[Haspen]

"I thought this thing requires entire group of mages to direct us anywhere." Nonetheless Prince Aliberti pulled out the glass out of his pocket.

The black glass of the mirror was completely shattered.

"Oh fuck."

[GiglameshDespair]

"Ominous.."

[Haspen]

Apart from ash and dirt-laden landscape, occasional burnt tree and mountains in the distance, there was nothing of note.

Ayzebel's eagle-like eyes did allow her to notice faint 'something' moving between the hills about kilometre or two to the east, opposite to the direction of the distant mountains.

  "T-Thats.. Really bad, h-huh... What does that even mean?"

[Haspen]

"How can you be so stoic, miss??" Princess Rosana adressed Ayzebel in just slightly panicked voice.

Because she's a puppet of the Glass.

Noel started writing down the events in his journal.

[GiglameshDespair]

"In good news, I can see something moving, amongst the hills." She pointed. "In bad news, I can see something moving, amongst the hills."

"How can you be so stoic, miss??" Princess Rosana adressed Ayzebel in just slightly panicked voice.

"Oh, that's simple, Liege. I was raised to disregard extraneous things such as emotions."

[Haspen]

"Hum. If that suits you, I guess? I pity the man who ends being with you, you don't sound like a relationship person..."

"Wait, what did you say?" Aliberti stopped staring mournfully (and slightly panicky) at the shattered glass of the artifact and walked up to Ayzebel. "Movement? Where?" He squinted his eyes at the distance. "What movement? I don't see anyone there."

[GiglameshDespair]

"Then I suppose we can be thankful we are not in a relationship, your Highness." Ayzebel remarked dryly before turning to Alberti.
"There was something between the hills... I do not think it was moving towards us, but more parallel. It is quite possible whatever it was did not spot us."
