Accept the invitation.

Well, it seems we've made some good contacts here. This should prove very helpful in our future Alchemy studies.
Agreed on both points.

We might offhandedly inquire into the trophy part

Not sure how mythical or magical this beast was in nature, but it could easily be "alchemy grade" material. Could be worth a good buck back at bytower, or getting us in /even/ better graces with Suafelta. Though it also just may lead to a memorabilia, or some... tasty meals? Cross between snake and boar? That really could taste great in its own right!

You accept the invitation graciously on behalf of both yourself and Alafard, and Gormflaith grins infectiously at your agreement. You inquire into what sort of trophies she might mean. Gormflaith suggests that the creature's eye might be an appropriate trophy for yourself, while considering Alafard's decisive blow he might be offered one of the creature's fangs. She explains that the body of the creature isn't particularly magical, though it's scales, meat and venom are still valuable, with a share of those being yours if you wish. The blue fungus that was growing in it's cave and fur however does not grow without the aid of the boar-serpents, and has magical properties, being used by witches to commune with spirits.

You speak briefly with Clenat, who has already begun gathering information from the locals on where certain plants can be found in abundance. She's also noted that the Ogre visitor has sent for a specific local witch, in the hope that the child she is pregnant with can be blessed and warded against magic. During the quiet conversation you notice that your armband has suffered grievous decay, much more than had been present only a few days ago.

...

After some time spent resting and speaking to Clenat you and Alafard are taken to the nearby Tuathé town, which you are told is named Three-Rings.Clenat and her nephew do not come, and from what she says she gives you the impression she would not likely be welcome anyway. The town sits partially on dry ground, and partially raised up by still growing vines, stilts and trees in a chaotic though not ill-designed fashion. A great bon-fire has been prepared in a pit in the center of town, where meat already sits cooking. There over a half-hundred people have gathered together by the time you arrive, with more yet coming, mostly fellow hunters, though there are local soothsayers, young witches and even a few youths on the cusp of adulthood in the midst, all there to apparently celebrate the death of Nathuiage, and to celebrate too, her life, alongside other recent accomplishments, trials and glories of the people of Three-Rings. Apparently she was nearly a century and a half old already, the oldest known member of her kind in memory. Those who speak the common New Aldrelim tongue tell you that the elders suspect that she made a lair so close to the paths forbidden to her because she sought death in battle before old age took her. Gormflaith has you given mead and meat, some of which is snake, some of which is boar, and some of which is borne from the body of Nathuiage. Her meat is unlike anything you have ever tasted in it's texture, though not in an unpleasant way, and you suppose it is unlikely that you will have it's like again in the future.

Soon begins the playing of music and the singing of songs, with intermittent dancing. Soon Cairbre and the ogre from earlier joins the party, you learn her name is Egilwelth, and that she and her family have been friends to the people of this village for many years, though her family has fallen under hard days. Cairbre gives you a powerful glare as he sees you sitting and eating with Gormflaith and their other clanspeople.

It is approaching dusk, and the celebrations are likely to go deep into the night. If you have plans to spend time with anyone in particular or do anything in particular during the celebrations now would be a good idea to decide.

Ask Gormflaith for its eyes and let Alafard decide what he wants.

Also lets find a young witch to talk to and introduce ourselves too. It could prove beneficial to have a non tower magical friend.

+1 to both, though we destroyed one of its eyes so we'll only get one.

Ask to get some of the venom, the scales, and access to the fungus. We're not really interested in the meat.

Who's Caibre, again?

All fanfics are heresy, each and every one, especially the shipping ones. Those are by far the worst.

Actually... a trophy is just that, and won't do us much good once we leave these swamps. One of those magical mushrooms however, would also include its spores. The Tuathe say it will only grow in the lairs of such a beast, but the tower should be able to make some sort of magical greenhouse - if the plant should prove beneficial enough. Else, we just have a very nice present for our tutor.

Try for one of the magical mushrooms as our trophy for the battle
Obviously, our official reason is that we are a herbalist, and as such a rare commodity entices our fancy.

Ah, so he hated us before the snake.
Nah, he seems to have a disdain for people of the tower. Flirt some with Gormflaith, then he just might hate us. ;3

Aren't we a bit too young for that? We're not exactly an adult yet.

Ask to get the Eye and some venom also politely ask about getting a bit of the blue mushrooms.

We are planning to be a bio mage I'm sure there will be something we can use that eye for and venom is just generally useful.

With Gormflaith you spend a little time haggling over the terms of what exactly you might get as a share of the spoils. She gently rebuffs you however, explaining that she has little say in the matter, the precise division being decided upon by the village elders. Each person who had some part in the killing of the Swamp-Serpent will have a share of the meat, scales, herbs and venom of the creature, perhaps even hair and bone if you so choose to take some of it. Gormflaith herself will receive a slightly larger share on account of being the one in command, and those hunters who set to work butchering and bringing the spoils back to the village will receive a small share of their own. If you so choose however you are free to trade some of what you do not want for more of what you do want on the morrow, when the work is done and the spoils are divided.

Gormflaith seems to cool towards you after the conversation of spoils is done, and insists that you drink more, making you down your cup of mead and giving you another. Alafard has found a place sitting and chatting among some of the hunters, laughing at and helping one of them with their broken Aldrelim, through from what you gather he also badly butchers the only Tuathé word he knows, to friendly jeers from the hunter he had just been correcting. Soon he's made to tell the slaying of Nathuiage from his own perspective, and he has no need to embellish to impress his listeners.

After you finish your second cup of mead Gormflaith ceases teasing you into drinking more and leaves to dance with some of the others who've taken to music and revelry. Once she's gone you ask some of the other Tuathé you've been speaking to to point you in the direction of a witch who speaks your tongue. This request draws some strange looks, but three in particular are pointed out to you. One is a girl about your own age who you wouldn't have even guessed as a witch, dressed in plain clothes and with a blade at her side, she seems rather friendly judging by her easy way with her drinking companions. Another better fits what you would expect a witch to seem like, dressed in dark robes and wearing a necklace of small, perfect bones. You saw her speak to the ogre not long before, who apparently rebuffed and offended the young witch. The third pointed out to you you had not even see there, a very old woman perched above the festivities, silently sitting on the balcony built into a tree, the young man who points her out speaks in hushed tones, and urges you to be respectful if you go speak with her.

Best not go to the ancient one, then, considering our awful diplomacy.

Go to the youngest one.
