The link to edit the rc file on CLAN is broken, actually it's broken only for 0.16... It will probably be fixed soon.

EDIT : Nevermind I just realised there was a server located in France with low traffic and I happen to be French so that's awesome.

Hello I would like to join the champions team.

I haven't joined any teams in previous tournaments (usually made some for myself and a few friends who didn't play) so I guess I could try it out this time. I had a nice run back in 0.13 tourney: http://dobrazupa.org/tournament/0.13/players/speedgee.html - Completed a ziggurat and had to ascend in a hurry during the last minutes of the tournament.

Re:Windowed mode. If you want to compete in this, you need to be using the online version, not the downloaded version. Assuming you're somewhere near California, go to crawl.akrasiac.org:8080/#lobby. The only major difference are tiles looking slightly different, a sightly different interface, and a lack of mouse controls, plus being able to play games on different computers.

Finally, your best bet is a Minotaur Berserker or Minotaur Fighter in terms of newb-friendly race/class combo. However, victory is far from assured, and it'll still be an upward battle. MiBe just gives you a slight advantage. Also, check the wiki if you haven't already for strategy and information, if you don't mind being spoiled (Granted, Crawl basically spoils itself, not that that's a bad thing).

just realised its better to read the banner rules carefully than to just skim them... think i did myself out of heretic 3 elegibility with some careless early branch tourism. Noy that i expect to win with my first tourney dude, but still,  careless
edit for simple beginner tips:
back away from every monster you meet before engaging. always back away into pre explored terrain. just.dont ever walk towards a monster, and dont fight anywhere you have not already cleared.
its amazing how much easier crawl becomes once you realise this is pretty good advice.

Louise banished me, and I got swarmed by Abyss nasties (Qazlal noise alerts every monster in the world), including three wretched stars at once:

flameboy99, is it how you spell your name on the crawl servers? You are the only one not appearing in the champions.

In my game I have cleared the dungeon to 15, and my two branches up to 4/5 and I still don"t have a single rPois item in the game. Good thing Zin is my buddy (first time playing with Zin and he's so strong).

Good to know that Electric Eels are still evil, I guess. Though I haven't died to them yet - the last tourney instilled me with a healthy respect for them.
