So there is no topic and the tournament begins in a few days so here we go.

Each release of crawl comes with a two weeks long tournament and the 0.16 tournament is coming. Bay12 has been participating (with good success) in previous tournaments. The tournament plays online on any of the servers and score is kept individually and for teams.

A team may have a maximum of 6 players, new players are very welcomed.
The tournament begins soon but placement in teams can be made up to one week after the start.

We usually match people of similar skill using this criteria :
Expert: Win or multiple runes.
Advanced: A rune or close to one.
Intermediate: Reached the Lair
Beginner: Wants to join the Tournament

So I placed myself in the Champions given that I got at least one win in the last three tournament, the captain position has no particular meaning so if someone wants it go ahead and ask.

How does a tournament work? I never played online.

EDIT: Eh, okay, just looked up some rules and have general idea.

Don`t think I could score some points though looking at that write up, since I never achieved any of the goals stated there. I get to the Lair sometime but that`s about it.

Also I`m a bit weird, because I play a lot, but only Linley`s original ;)

Don`t think I could score some points though looking at that write up, since I never achieved any of the goals stated there. I get to the Lair sometime but that`s about it.

Basically all you have to do is add a single line to your config file (more on that later when we have a captain in each team) and play online. And you really can score points, in fact tournaments are a good time to play if you never won the game, you get points for killing uniques and simply entering branches. Also it's the time where everyone plays (servers usually lag the first few days then it's fine) so you can spectate better players and learn, or ask questions here about your run and have a quick answer.

The tournament lasts two weeks and as I said you get points for basically anything, you don't have to win or get runes to have fun.

I have a 6 day break away from computers right in the middle of this tourney, but go ahead and stick me in the "not got much time on my hands" bits and pieces team, or in the Advanced if there is room... I am sure I can at least find time to get a lajataur lair rune, although a win might be beyond me right now - Zot splats seem to be the best I can hope for

I'll tentatively join Expert. I've managed to get 3 runes, and can often manage at least one, usually 2. I've never actually managed to get a win, though, plus I'll be unavailable to really play a ton until Monday. However, should nobody else come around that's better than me, I'll gladly join Champions.

I think I remember vaguely, at least I remember some of us did not get much luck to say the least. My tournament was mostly about failing to ascend a vampire and an octopode. I realised Chei was super strong though so there is that.
