Well, G-Rank is generally added in the updated re-release. The original Monster Hunter 4 didn't have G-Rank.
My buddy is thinking this is more like MHP3rd and it'll be just that with no further updates because of the historical precedent Capcom has done this.

And here I was thinking I'd have an excuse to boot up the game and slay some monsters again. :P

I'm down to play. I should really get in that IRC again sometime.

I'm pretty sure the attack you're referring to is avoidable, even without evasion skill. He lunges forward a lot with it, so don't dodge directly away. Try sideways, maybe even kind of towards him. If that doesn't work:

- If your armor is weak to thunder, eat for thunder resist. That might prevent him from one-shotting you.
- If evading that particular attack is the problem, equip a weapon that can block. Taking the chip damage and stamina loss is WAY better than missing a dodge and taking the full hit.
- Gemming in evasion+1 is tough, so instead, maybe add Evade Extender to your set, which makes your dodge carry you much further. You need Jumping Jewels for that. Pretty sure they're made of Lagombi parts.

You're right about the attack being absurdly strong and accurate, though. Its damage is comparable to his breakdance flip-thingy (which is probably his strongest attack) mainly because it does lots and lots of thunder damage (which can murder you easily if you're weak to it).

I'd join you right now and give the ol' lightning-critter what for, but I need to glue the joystick cap back on my 3DS with superglue, and on top of that I'm being pestered by family to do family things. Christmas is annoying sometimes.

charm-farming
Is Sovereign of the Sky subquest still the best way to charm farm right now? Gaijunhunter posted that video saying it was the 'first method' but he never made a followup.

That is nearly identical to the Sovereign of the Sky method.

Guess at some point I'll have to cave and actually start doing guild quests... I do need divine armor spheres I suppose.

Just discovered a love for the Light Bowgun. Hipfiring is really easy now for some reason, I used to be terribad at it.

the right charm is an evade dist + 8 evade + 9 3-slot charm.
If I had that charm I'd never need another charm ever again =O

Honestly, the random aspect of charms really ought to be removed, or at least a way to create your own tailored charms needs to be added. Completely random charms forces players to do absurd amounts of dull farming to create the skill sets they want.

But I'm probably preaching to the choir, aren't I?

But then we wouldn't have hundreds of hours of farming gameplay

It's probably better to do a bunch of farming first to get a few nice charms with relevant skills and plan a set based off of those rather than plan a set based on a very specific charm before you find it. The odds of you getting the exact charm with the right skills and slots you need are pretty abysmal, so I'd just work with what I had already.

I mean, you could, but it'll be a pain.

Well, I'm already going for NaKu NaKu Na which works regardless of charm. Problem is that the skills I want require very specific charms.

Also I just tried to solo Kushala; it was a disaster.

I could help you with the kushala if you want.

Well, I'm free tomorrow. It'll be nicer once I don't have to sharpen to maintain above-blue sharpness by having a layer of purple.

I'll PM you some way to contact me then.
