Amusingly, I'd actually like to see Trump in office for one of the points mentioned: protectionist trade policy in the U.S., if thoroughly implemented, would royally screw a bunch of profitmongering vulturesque capitalists.

You know what the worst part about this is?

Regardless of who fucking wins, this is going to be in some kid's history book someday, and they'll look back at this, and they won't say "What the fuck was wrong with these people?"

They'll say "I want to be like him one day", and when they talk about wanting to be President, this will include Donald Trump.

That is what is truly awful about this, even if he loses. He'll have been a strong enough contender to get mentioned years and years from now, and it'll be an eternal testament to how fucked up this whole thing is, and eventually no one but history majors will even realize that. They may be farther along, they may have come back from the brink of whatever-the-fuck America is on now, but Trump will outlive us all in infamy.

And that's goddamn stupid.

The first thing I noticed is how this doesn't sound like Trump at all. I think I can do better.
So I'm writing something like what I think Trump might say instead with >s. I skipped a few, though.

(Gosh, dumbing my writing down to Trump's level is HARD)

> Obama and the Democrats are a terrible failure! Obamacare is failing! It's a millstone on the economy's neck (wait, does a fifth grader know what a millstone is?)! You know, I heard the Democrats tried to cut a deal, made Obamacare even more conservative than "Romneycare," but the Republicans refused to budge. I'm sure they had a reason. I hear they might be racists. I don't know, that's what people tell me. vOv
> Our insurance companies never win anymore! You know why? It's because Congress passed a bill to stop the government from paying them, and Obama signed it into law! ["risk corridors" - actually stopping the government from compensating them for losses before they reach profitability]
> The free market is great, and I'm really rich. I know how to make the healthcare industry work for you.

> We're gonna knock down all the walls between you and the best deal. You just have to look for it!

> MAKE GOVERNMENT GREAT AGAIN. MAKE LIBERTY GREAT AGAIN. WE'RE GONNA FIX THE LIBERTY BELL, PUT IT IN A PLANE, HOOK IT TO A MONSTER AMP, AND FLY IT OVER ISIS RINGING IT 24/7. YEAH!

Spoiler: #1 (click to show/hide)
> Obamacare's costing too many good, hardworking folk too much money! I'll free you from the constant payments, and I'll free the insurance companies to take cost-cutting measures! [Like refusing to accept applicants with cancer]

Spoiler: #2 (click to show/hide)
Trump's proposed this before. It's too bad the insurance companies don't actually want it.

Spoiler: #3 and #4 (click to show/hide)
> Who wrote this!? It wasn't me! Who is it even aimed at? Obviously not you, my followers! My victims...
HSAs are saving money for health emergencies - sounds appealing until you consider that if you're so poor that you already can't afford to save money, you also can't afford to put anything into a HSA, and the exorbitant cost of any treatment for any kind of emergency, or cancer or the like, is probably going to far outstrip your savings, just like has been the case for people who tried to save and not buy insurance.

Spoiler: #5 (click to show/hide)
> I love finding the best price. I'm great at it. I'm gonna teach you to be great at it too. All the time. [If you're having a heart attack, you're probably not in any position to be able to price-shop, considering that time matters. And so on for other emergencies. And not everyone has the time.]

Spoiler: #6 (click to show/hide)
I had to google block grant. Apparently it's not a good thing.

Spoiler: #7 (click to show/hide)
Definitely not Trump. I'd have expected him to say the opposite:
> I hear China puts poison in their drugs, that's why we don't import cheap Chinese drugs in America. Remember the pet food scandal, when tainted chinese pet food killed so many poor pets? That's what they want to do to us! I'll cut a better deal with the American drug companies for you, and get them to raise prices in Europe to make up for the lost revenue.

Spoiler: #8 (click to show/hide)
> WE'RE GONNA BUILD THE WALL! AND WHO'S GOING TO PAY FOR IT? THAT'S RIGHT! MEXICO! AND WE'RE GONNA SEND TED CRUZ BACK TO CANADA! AND WE'LL MAKE THEM AND EUROPE PAY FOR OUR HEALTH CARE!

> We're gonna round up all the illegals and ship them home! And we'll get El Chapo in American custody, so I can make him head of the DEA! You know he's an expert on drug-running! He knows all the secrets!

> China and Mexico are stealing our jobs and I'm going to bring them back to reduce the number of people on the government teat!

> I don't like Congress, but I'll cut deals with them to help sick people! [He doesn't even need to say mental health, does he? He can hit all notes at once and also sound like a bigot by saying 'sick'.]

> I'm great at business, and I'm really rich. TRUMP 2016! I can't wait to put the Lincoln bedroom on airbnb.

It's not just a matter of dumbing down. Yes, Trump uses simple vocabulary. But his sentence structure is very specific and precise, and you didn't get that part right at all. You also miss out on a lot of what makes his use of language really effective. Here's a pretty solid analysis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aFo_BV-UzI

Honestly, all of the 'the really scary thing is that future kids won't recognise how TERRIBLE Trump is' stuff demonstrates quite neatly exactly why Trump is doing so well in the first place. People are tired of being told by the liberal elite that their views are backward, racist, misogynist, etc, when they aren't, when a large proportion of the country actually feels the same way that they do (as evidenced by the votes for Trump and his position in national polling).

Every time the talk show hosts do a monologue laughing at how incomprehensible it is that Trump is winning primaries, every time an MSNBC anchor makes it clear that *of course* no 'real' minorities support Trump and it's just a silly mistake that their on-site reporter accidentally interviewed a well-spoken black man who called out the race-baiting BS, every time the tone of the conversation turns to 'Well of course there are no Trump supporters among nice, civilized people like ourselves', his support goes up.

If you actually wanted Trump to lose, the best thing that you could do to achieve that is to show some understanding and respect to him and those who hold different views from your own. But I guess it's easier to say you're moving to Canada.
...eh?  Its not just that he "thinks differently", its that Trump is a liar and a fraud.  Most of the things he says about himself are objectively wrong or extremely skewed.  He's outright said that his estimation of his own wealth varies based on how he's feeling at the time.  Almost everyone who's looked into it at all says that Trumps self-portrayal as a successful businessman is smoke and mirrors and he's lost money since he inherited his wealth.  Hell, those buildings with his name on them?  He doesn't even own them.  He exploits bankruptcy laws and sits atop a thrown of failed business ventures bearing the Trump name.

Furthermore, this is a guy that outright espouses and supports violence from his supporters (E.G. is not nearly all I have heard on this matter but I don't care to track down a list of all the different incidents).  I agree that Trump should be respected but as a threat only.  And I also agree that people saying they'll move to Canada is stupid but that happens every election cycle and almost no one actually moves.  Trust me, the voices from the other side were at least as loud on that one when it came to Obama.

Its not even that his "views" are a laundry list of every form of hate under the sun.  Its that he's flip flopped on most of them at some point in his life.  And I don't think he's expressed a coherent policy point at any point in the campaign; even the wall, the one thing he's constant on, his plan to pay for it isn't consistent or well defined at all.  At least Ted Cruz truly believes in his own ideals, oppressive as they are.  I don't think Trump honestly 100% believes anything at this point except "Trump is great and other people should think Trump is great".  He'd be willing to give ground on anything else as long as it supports rule 1.

I absolutely agree that democrats are not taking this whole thing as seriously as they need to.  But Trump is an... oddity.  The last batch of conservative candidates were very hard to the right and completely inviable in the general election.  Every time one of them got popular they'd say something that accurately reflected their own beliefs and then plummet in the polls, which is why the party ended up nominating Romney who people didn't actually like.  This hasn't changed, Santorum and his ilk are still as doomed as ever.  What Trump says is actually even further to the right then most of the gaffs, yet for whatever reason people don't react to Trump the way they do to people Santorum.  To the point where he can be one step off from paraphrasing Hilter and yet still surge in the polls.  Its different and people need to stop acting like Trump will never happen.

You have some really fun elections there.

Can someone explain, how Trump manages to maintain true american patriot and voice of the common people image, while being egocentric billionaire? When I try to understand, my mind starts boiling.

The average human being is incredibly dim. It's not just here in American. It's everywhere. Trump is the Jerry Springer of politics and look at how many fans Jerry Springer has. It's remarkably easy to trick stupid people and there sure are a whole lot of them out there. Take a quick look to youtube and compare the popularity of a video showing some guy getting kicked in the balls vs a lecture by a well regarded college professor on pretty much any academic topic known to man. You will find the video of the guy getting kicked in the balls has several thousand times as many views.

People are imbeciles and they lap up this sort of sensationalized garbage like it's mother's milk. Trump looks for the most negative voice in the room and then puts it up on a pedestal and runs with it. The crowd then just goes absolutely wild, just like on Jerry Springer. Trump is quite literally a reality TV star and although the Apprentice is long since over he is still hamming up the roll and people just eat it up.

As far as I can tell, Trump has built up a narrative for years about himself as a successful capitalist.  See: The Apprentice, putting his name on buildings, ect.  His success in this election cycle can be credited to him "cashing in" on this narrative.  If some random state governor no one has heard of said the things Trump has said no one would take it.  But its not some random person.  Its Trump, Successful Man of Business.  Its kind of like how Warren Buffet's oddly anti-capitalist comments don't discredit him even though that shit generally doesn't fly in US political discourse.

Except, unlike Trump, Warren Buffet actually is a successful businessman.
