So you dont trust Clinton when she proposes legislation to clean up wall street because she is close to people like Michael Bloomberg.  On the other hand we have Michael Bloomberg who opposes wall street reform but at least he is trustworth.  After all, he has never called himself a friend of Michael Bloomberg and his ilk.

Plus, if I recall correctly you have a slightly positive view of Bernie Sanders, no?  I.E. the man who terrifies Bloomberg so much that he wants to ride into the presidency on a white horse and save us from the proletarian hordes.

The lengths people will go to to villify Clinton are pretty amazing.

I mean, I think we can all agree that she's an ruthless, petty tyrant with the morals of a weasel and no common sense or empathy.  But frankly, that describes 90% of the current field of candidates, and also a significant fraction of previous presidents!  The US has survived way worse leaders than Clinton.  I don't know if I'll vote for her, but frankly I can't see myself voting for any Republican. That party as a whole has simply become too toxic, deluded and hate-filled.  So I'm probably voting for the Democrat nominee, and that could well be Clinton.

IDK.   This might be a year I write in a candidate, because all of the current choices stink.

That sounds more like a Ben Carson thing to say than Marco Rubio.

I thought everyone knew that Obama is taking advantage of his lame duck status to get a ton of stuff done?  He can't get reelected so he no longer bothers to care about what other people think (on one hand, he seems to be doing a lot of good, on the other hand, just imagine Cruz in a similar situation and weep).

I said "a look". What does "a look" mean to you?

I don't really know that much of Bloomberg's policy stances, other than he seems to be rather heavy-handed and micro-managing as King of Gotham.

EDIT#2: Interesting narrative starting to build about Clinton and female support. She's doing well with older women (45+) but losing younger women to Sanders, 64-35. Which seems to have triggered a spate of older female Clinton surrogates attempting to browbeat young women back into line, in the most tone-deaf manner imaginable.

You have Gloria Steinem saying, "And when you're young, you're thinking, 'Where are the boys?' The boys are with Bernie."

And you have Madeline Albright saying, "There is a special place in hell for women who don't help each other."

Such feminist. So girl power. Wow. 

I'll be looking closely at crosstabs in future polling to see how her support among younger females trends.

I don't really know that much of Bloomberg's policy stances, other than he seems to be rather heavy-handed and micro-managing as King of Gotham.

As a New Yorker, I can assert that "King of Gotham" should have been his nickname. Truly a missed opportunity.

Liberal on social issues. Supports Abortion, stem-cell research, Gun Control. One notable exception is drugs, where he opposes decriminalization. He opposes the Death Penalty. He managed to reduce the crime rate substantially. He is the quote-unquote "nanny state", and supports regulation. Supportive of public welfare, and healthcare. I don't think he likes Obamacare, but he definitely would attempt to implement it as effectively as possible now that it is the law of the land. He is conservative economically, and, in general, supports a typically "Big-business" approach to economic growth, such as free trade. He is a strong supporter of the environment, and is actively concerned about Climate Change. He supports immigrants very strongly. In terms of foreign policy, he is relatively aggressive and focused on terrorism (there's a reason the NYPD has its own Intelligence division). He is big on infrastructure. Fiscally conservative.

Politically he is unaligned. He couldn't win the democratic nomination to start off with, so he struck a deal with Republicans and ran as an independent, and always kept good relations with them. He is a dealmaker, but he likes having control over things. His salary as Mayor was $1, and he did not live in the Mayoral Mansion, so its fair to say he certainly wouldn't get bribed.

Overall I say that I do like Bloomberg, and I think that his successes over the twelve years he was mayor justify his candidacy, especially given he helped the city through 9/11 (one thing he has over everyone else in the field: actually dealt with 9/11, was actually an executive handling the situation.) and it managed to prosper economically in various ways (every year we break a record for tourists) even through the financial crisis. However I doubt he would be everyone's cup of tea, so to speak. If he won, it would be because there was a tie, and it went to the House of Representatives, and the House hated both the Republican and Democrat Nominee (could happen if it was Trump or Cruz: They hate those guys), so they pick a guy they think they can make a deal with.

Hey now, Chris Christie could see 9/11 from his house, as he reminds everyone all the time.
And besides, wasn't Giuliani mayor during 9/11? I thought Bloomberg didn't come along till November. I mean, I get what you're at -- Bloomberg dealt with all the cleanup and repercussions, while Giuliani mostly just dealt with the immediate aftermath.


EDIT: Bill Gates should jump in the race as a Democrat, so we could potentially have a 3-way contest to determine which super-rich dude will rule us all.

EDIT#2: Most recent couple of polls have Kasich in 2nd in NH, with 17%. He's definitely been gaining momentum, while Rubio's post-Iowa bump ran smack into RubioBot 3000 glitching out during the debate. Not inconceivable that Kasich takes 2nd, Rubio 3rd, and a very close 4-5 finish with Cruz/Bush or even Bush/Cruz. A fifth-place finish for Cruz would throw a wet towel on anything he got coming out of Iowa. Likewise, a 4th place finish for Bush would lend him just enough credibility to stay in the race, further dividing the establishment vote. Trump will win outright, but it'll be interesting to see if he takes less than 30%.

Christie, Carson and Fiorina are roadkill and should be shoveled out of the way after NH, as they won't break into double-digits. Though I could see some wealthy establishment backers who don't like Rubio pumping some money into Christie's campaign, as he's been one of the most effective candidates at attacking Rubio and getting under his skin. I could even see Bush backers doing the same, thinking that Christie is no real threat to Bush but could drag down Rubio enough for Bush to move up and hang on.

I still have this weird feeling that Carson hangs on to SC, but I don't know if he has the money to hold out that long. From what I've been reading, his staff is shrinking faster than the grain levels in the Pyramids.
