Anyway.
Jorgen was born to upper class mercantile family Family in Karaa'lac, where he enjoyed a suitably spoiled childhood for his wealth bracket. When he was a young man however, strange happenings starting appearing around him, flickering lights, strange sounds, sometimes even flashes of color and shapes. His family were greatly excited by this, thinking these were signs that he would become a wizardly prodigy. On his seventh birthday he was turned over to The Order of Magi, Alchemists, and Natural Philosophers for general education and eventually instructions in the wizardly ways.
Despite the efforts of the masters though he took incredibly poorly to education. He had the intelligence for it, but never the attention span and work effort. He largely failed to learn much at all in the more mundane courses. With courses failing to hold his attention he grew into a truant, skipping classes to gallivant around the city, getting in trouble, even gambling, which he had a particular interest for. Despite his awful records he managed to barely stay enrolled in the order, thanks to his natural charm with the masters who were often all to willing to overlook his faults, the generous donations from his family, and the clear fact that minor magics constantly popped up around him, raising hopes that he would take to the magical part of his education more readily. When he finally came of age to start being instructed in the ways of the magi, the predictions that he would be able calm himself for magical education came half true. Although he was greatly interested in many parts of his magical education, the theories behind magic and it's workings he absorbed as a star pupil, however, the practical side of magic, something that was many student greatest interest, had a odd effect on him. In some cases he seemed to have a inborn genius for spellcasting, effortlessly mastering a few basics and casting several cantrips on a level greater then some students that were years his senors. In other cases he fumbled as the most inept of apprentices. It became clear that any spell that did not interest him, he simply would not learn, no matter how much the masters forced him to practice it. Although he managed to pass the tests to become a apprentice by the skin of his teeth, getting exemplary marks in the spells he knew and in magical knowledge, and getting no points at all for spells he didn't know. But the realization had already snuck into a few masters minds, he was not a wizard at all! But a Sorcerer!
The school wasn't sure how to handle his case, as it was clear that his talent in magic would not be brought out by their teachings. No master seemed to know how to teach him or was willing to take him on as a apprentice. He was shuffled around the school between various masters for a time, and it appeared that he might eventually be kicked out of the academy entirely, until eventually, the old master Elgic, who had once been a Regent of the Order, and had retired away to this chapter to act as the master of magical theory, the master that Jorgen had always gotten on best with, the master who had not taken a apprentice in many years, put himself forward to be Jorgens master. The other masters and Jorgen himself were relieved with certainty that Elgic, in all his great knowledge, would be able to properly school Jorgen.
When Elgic and Jorgen meet in private for the first time as master and apprentice though that Elgic revealed that he had no way to teach Jorgen how to wield his powers. Elgic had simply taken him in to stop him from being kicked out of the school. Elgic knew that a sorcerer would have to come into their power on their own, with little help from the outside. Still, he helped Jorgen in what ways he could. Tutoring him not in practical magics, but much more deeply in magical theory and control. He helped Jorgen hone what spells he could cast, and with much practice properly control them. Teaching Jorgen what he could about anything he thought that he could put to use even as a Sorcerer. Then, he encouraged Jorgen to go out into the world, and find his way. Knowing that Jorgens natural curiosity and a wider breath of experience would likely help him bring out his powers more then rote learning like most wizards. Although a wizard becoming a journeyman at this age was practically unheard of in the order Elgic secured Jorgen the special permissions needed. And so Jorgen, the Sorcerer of the order headed out into the world.
I always seem to write my rpg backstories late at night, I wonder if that's a good thing or a bad thing for the quality. Eh.
Anyway, you might note that my sheet is pretty unfinished, especially feats and skills (and some items). Honestly, this is the first time I've made a sorcerer (I've always done wizard), and it was a lot harder then I thought it would be. It seems like you need to think a lot ahead for a sorcerer, even down to your first level feats, and to be honest what I want to do with this character is going to change a lot depending on what the other characters are going to be. So, I hope Remuthra doesn't mind if I leave my feats and skills blank until he selects players, so that if I do get in I can sorta tailor my dude to the others who got in as well.
Hum... If I get around to it before the characters are selected maybe I'll make a ogre character as well, they looked fun with that free sr and large size... Maybe like a warblade. Or a dungeon crasher.
