The engineers install the heat sink as soon as it arrives, with amazing results. All thrusters and FTL are back online. The ship is almost as good as new!
You instruct
Donnely to have engineering put together an analysis of the damage of the
Argos when hitting the patrol station. A couple hours later, you get the report in full.
"Well, assuming around 50% throttle, it would have various impacts on the station's hull." she says as she brings up a hologram of the station on the central projector table.
"Here," she states as she points to a part on the 'underside' of the station,
"If hit at 50% throttle, we may be able to overload the reactor, effectively splitting the station as two as well as causing it to lose power." She then points to another area on the hologram.
"If we aim it here, we could hit numerous barracks as well as life support. They'd probably panic for a bit, then after a few casualties and all the EVA suits are used up, they'd probably have a repair ship and perhaps military backup, if they suspect us, warped to the station." she looks down at her tablet, then starts pointing to a different area on the hologram.
"If we hit this place successfully, we may just be able to knock out the weapons systems across the station. They would still be able to send out fighters, though.""..wow." murmurs the astonished
Hensen.
"Who would've known we've had this many vulnerabilities on such vital stations?""I do believe GrandCom fully expects that the Uarks wouldn't have a trained U.E.F. engineering officer and team analyzing U.E.F. database blueprints of a station used to guard less important planets."A bit later, the Bridge Officer has a report compiled on some possible hyperspace destinations if you feel inclined to enter hyperspace.
There are three stars in the immediate vicinity. The first one, Foxtrot-795, houses a purely residential colony with the most recently recorded population of three million civilians. Due to how functionally useless it is strategically, the Uark opposition is supposedly almost nonexistent for a such a population.
The next star, Koy-103, is home to a mining operation on a gas giant. The stations orbiting the gas giant refine the gases into an extreme variety of things via molecular-level manufacturing. Uark forces are bound to be there, but the Bridge Officer has no idea as to how large the Uark occupation force there is.
The last star, Alpha-79018, is more or less the capital of this region of space. It has about two billion civilians, mainly at the earth-like planet. The U.E.F. regional military and government headquarters were located on this planet. Reported Uark forces are high, and the Bridge Officer infers that it's also probably the checkpoint for Uark traffic throughout the area.
The officer also states that he may be able to find more planets/stars if you give a precise search query.
If you decide to enter hyperspace, you should probably think of something to do along the trip. While it's not needed, it's always good to make use of your time.
