The Save the World Thread
« on: December 18, 2014, 04:40:27 pm »

My idea for this thread is to be a discussion of how to fix the worlds problems. Any ideas?

Idea 1:  Convert all Democracies to Demarchies to reduce corruption.

Idea 2:  Have a guaranteed income, regardless if you work or not.  It will be barely livable, but better than nothing.  This will create more jobs as more people choose not to work.

Idea 3:  Anybody in a war-torn country (Palestine, Syria, parts of africa, whatever) gets free immigration to Canada if they want it.

Idea 4:  Use Optimus Prime as a leadership example.  "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings"

Idea 5:  Convert the military forces into Peacekeepers and builders.  Instead of napalming third world countries into dust, we could build schools and stuff.

First we'd have to get rid of that homo sapiens infestation... probably replace it with computers or something. Then those can get to fixing that whole "solar expansion" and "heat death" problem.

Step one: Omnicide.

Step two: Computer overlords.

Step three: ???

Step four: Glorious post-human utopia.

Cloning, probably. Or more/better breeding projects, some geoengineering on the side to make sure they've got somewhere to live... stuff like that. Just have to get folks to care enough to do something about it.

Which. I wouldn't be easy to convince, personally. Macaws are kinda' terrifying and I wouldn't terribly mind losing one more thing out there that can take off significant portions of my physiology if it gets pissed. Smaller parrots are okay, though. They generally can only take out a finger or something, instead of, like, your arm.

This reminds me of a Dead Philosophers in Heaven comic. I could get behind Rousseau's idea.
Idea 1:  Convert all Democracies to Demarchies to reduce corruption.
"If it works for small city-states, it will work for 315 million"? This amuses me because I've been reading Aristotle's Politics, and he has some strong words for lottocracy (Something along the lines of calling it rule by the poor, ignorant multitude). For my part, I don't think giving power to random people is a good way to reduce corruption. Just, something off about that.

Have we considered invading other planets for their stuff? Being victorious in war seems to work wonders on a national level (Resources! Unity! Living space! Stuff!), have we tried taking the losing country out of the equation? Mars is just mocking us with its Methane, stinking up space and such.

Hey, we won't know until we try.   :P  I don't think democracy is working that well for 315 million either.

The Greeks tried it, and they still haven't recovered. Think about that.

So to clarify, the reduction of the individual to the point where the collective constantly overrides it is a win-condition sign of progress?

The problem is people. Remove people and there is world peace among people because no people will be at war.

Step 1: Irradiate world.
Step 2: ???
Step 3: World peace.
