Welcome to the World of Pokemon!- Professor OakI've decided to take on the role of running a Pokemon Tabletop game after trying it out for a bit on a different thread, but sadly, it didn't last long. I have decided to try my hand at running it in hopes that we can get a stable game going. Its going to be a rather chaotic game since this is the first "world" I have ever made from scratch and I have hardly any practice in doing so.
Here's a link to the handbooks required for this:
PDF of the rulesThe world is all made by my own hand, being the Hira Region:
The Hira Region is four islands that separate everyone. The major ferries are marked on the map in between landmasses. Forests are marked in bright green and mountains and caves are marked with brown and lakes with a lighter blue. The place is divided into several provinces:
North Eridal
North Eridal is the poorest province in the Hira Region, but they're one of the happiest compared to the others. Excluding their capital of Festle City and the community of Macha Village, the rest of this province is scattered farmland like Central Eridal to the south. Their capital is a heavy industry and naval trade city that contrasts the rest of the area. Those outside of Festle City live simple but hardworking lives. Most of the people here have never been to the main island, let alone the smaller islands. They have the largest lake in the entire region
Central Eridal
South of North Eridal, Central Eridal is more based around history than industry, despite having the only source of iron in the region and once holding the ironworks not far. Their iron deposits are sent to Tidan City to be sent to the main island for refining now, but people here are as hardworking as those in North Eridal. Central Eridal has the largest museum in the region, only rivaled by the one in Lawe. The capital of Central Eridal, Bliar City, houses a lot of history and the great museum. Unlike North Eridal which is very hilly, Central Eridal is flat, rolling plains.
Lawe
Lawe is the rugged mountainous part of the Hira Region, and holds many fossils in their digsite. The great Professor Hawthorn has his old research lab here before he moved back to Festle in North Eridal. His assistants still run the place in his absence. Mount Lawe separates the Raghen marshlands from the archeologically rich Kinark Village. The mountain is well known for housing ice types at its peak. The ruined abbey near Girarm is claimed to be haunted and held by spirits of the dead. The people of Lawe are highly intelligent and superstitious at the same time
Galen
Galen holds the capital of all of the Hira Region, Nold City, which is the largest commercial center for all trade. Nold holds both wealthy patrons and poor beggars, as well as everything in between. There are shipyards as you go deeper into the city as people of all sides of crime gather. Poachers, thieves, and street rats roam the poor side of Nold, but they live comfortably despite being poor. All in Nold though stay away from the abandoned Chisel Maze that was once a mining operation that went too deep. Now, steel types roam the maze, digging up the iron and other metals that are found there. The rest of Galen is a big contrast, with forests, plains and oddities in all shapes and sizes. The caves under Yern Town are frozen as ice types wander under them, and as you head north towards the island coasts, the pokemon grow stronger and stronger as you get closer to the league. From the clothiers of Harron Village to the mind readers of Dhengr Town, Galen is home to the most diverse kinds of people. Malor City is the biggest industrial city in the region and home to one of the largest suppliers of Pokemarts. The ferrymen of Kord watch as people go from Stocdal and Lebrin to the mainland and then back, watching as the people return grown stronger and wiser from their travels. People even come from the north islands and Eridal Island to pay their respects and witness the memorial stone in Gedrik Town in homage to the mythical conqueror Hiro, who united the region and named it after himself. Galen holds the wealthiest people and a good chunk of the population, mostly those from Nold, have never done manual labor and most never will
Stocdal
The people of Stocdal descend from a mighty clan of warriors and breeders. Stocdal people are mostly ranchers and breeders, always trying their best to breed the best pokemon, and most of them do. Some people in Stocdal can find out the strengths and weaknesses of pokemon, and not just type but how strong they are with their attacks and defences. Some people in Stocdal even have the ability to capture and tame pokemon without the use of a pokeball, though this has been a skill passed down that is slowly fading out with the pokeball taking over. The Ruins of Grusna are a reminder of what happens when technology is placed in the wrong hands. Storn Village is the place where many league champions are born, and many rare pokemon are found on this island. Though they're not as wealthy as Galeans, their skill with pokemon is almost unrivaled
Lebrin
Lebrin is home of the pokemon league and victory road. The people of Kerlan City and the league have a strange knack for awakening the strengths in all pokemon. Be it born weak or being a weaker pokemon in general, Lebrin peoples will always use pokemon in battles no matter how weak they are and will use them until their full potential is achieved. In the contrast between using strong pokemon and pokemon that you share a bond with, Lebrin people always say they share a bond with their pokemon, and they always do. There is a slight rivalry between people from Lebrin and Stocdal, as both are usual winners of the league. The most recent winner came from Stocdal.
Each player, after making their trainer, will decide on where they came from. The game will begin in Macha Village.
House Rules:1 ) No supernatural classes. Humans, other then Stocdals and Lebrinians with their "abilities", have no real abilities other then what a regular human can do
2 ) Trainers themselves can become part of the combat and act independently of their pokemon (meaning your pokemon can be fighting another poke while you climb a tree to save a caterpie or something or even kick the pokemon themselves). This also means you can throw a pokeball right after your pokemon's attack depending on your speed
3 ) Though heavily frowned upon, you CAN kill pokemon or people.
4 ) For storyline reasons, the minimum age must be at least 15 and the maximum is 35. Generally, it would be best if the trainers ranged from 16-20 years of age
5 ) You can do anything that you want to do. Just remember that not everything will go your way, so go nuts
6 ) Run by your starter pokemon with me, even if you're a late arrival. I will let you flesh out your first pokemon, but I'm not letting you start with a larvitar or dratini. This brings me to the next rule...
7 ) If you joined in late, you will have random pokemon, save the starter, that I will decide on based on the progress in game.
8 ) League battles will be fleshed out ignoring distance and terrain, but outdoor battles will have a map and sprites as well as terrain effects
