what about that bird? Smelling rotting flesh seems like a trigger for it to attack, though we don't have anything to attack it with, even if it did just have a snack.
Hmmm, well, get the zombies underneath the roof and pile the skeletons on then, then take a look at the bush.
Edit: oh, right, and reanimate the skeletons, can't have them flesh fed though, could we?

You reanimate the skeletons. -2 Mana

"Here is the beauty of using skeletons instead of corpses, they can only really be magically fed due to logistical concerns, (Be my guest however, to figure out how to feed them normally.) but since no energy goes towards reviving their organs and flesh, they lose no sustenance unless they get hit or do work. I could just store these bad boys and they wouldn't lose a drop of it for 20 years but, bones are very fragile, and while these are pristine, they are un-enhanced by any means."

The skeletons meander about for a very short while before the plant rustles, and tiny vines begin to creep out, going towards the source of the disturbance.

The giant bird is nowhere near you, and is flying the other way.

As your skeletons pick up in speed, so do the vines, wrapping up two of them, you smell an acidic tang in the air, and both skeletons take 1 damage.

Give the dwarf zombie the axe hammer and get it to slicing the two vines off, and if it can get back without getting eaten, take the vines.

The dwarf approaches the plant with his axe and begins sloppily hacking away at the vines, succeeding in freeing one of the skeletons.

Thankfully, despite the creature's horrible ear-piercing scream, zombies are incapable of flinching, and the dwarf calmly drags the skeleton back to you, the acid flow ceasing.

Your big skeleton takes 1 damage.

A giant red bulb begins to slightly emerge from the plant.

Have the Dwarf zombie cut the other skeleton loose and drag it back to us.

The plant has no interest in eating the bones, the zombie is worth more than the skeleton, and we don't know what the plant will do next. The plant detects soil vibrations, probably. Just wait and see if it goes back to pretending to be a normal bush.

If we want to try to get a seedling or something, we'll want to come back at night, possibly after using some pontification points to figure out a suitable spell.

Keep the zombie back, back-up a bit, have the trapped skeleton remain motionless, and remain still ourselves.

You send your zombie back to hack at the other one, but a vine creeps up behind it, and being a zombie is very much so oblivious to the danger.

The vine skewers through it, acid hissing away immediately at the undead, the vine falls apart, a chunk of it in the Dwarf's chest.

You try to mutate the plant, but it becomes more difficult the further away the target, and you only manage to melt part of the vine slightly. -1 mana.

You are out of mana.

The dwarf zombie takes 10 points of damage from the acid.

The large skeleton takes 1 damage from the acid.

Zombie, hack it apart. Hack the entire plant to pieces, go berserk!
