"Are you... sure about that? Because, um, I think I would remember doing that."

As the mark finally takes effect, a flash of light engulfs Lillian. When the light subsides, she still looks about the same, but feels the magic growing inside.

Lillian has promoted to Lore Master!

"Er, right, yes."

She glanced over at Tomik and Kyle, wondering how much they heard of that conversation. There was a brief flash of light, and Lillian gave herself a small smile within it. The Rose family had always been powerful magically; that Mark must have affected her. Maybe now other people would be able to hear the music in her head as she always heard it, instead of it being constrained to only her instrument and her voice.

"Anyway. Maybe I could play something for you. If you wanted."

Kyle was ignoring the conversation for the most part up until the subject of dancing was broached. It was at around that point that he turned his head to look confused before subsequently being even more confused by the light. With all that said and done, Kyle sits there with a dumb look of confusion on his face looking at the two girls.

Harlan stood up, dragging his brother to his feet at the same time.

: "Come on. Let's find a pawn shop or something we can unload that stuff at, and then we should get back to the rest."

The two brothers wandered around the city for a bit until finding the same magic shop Catherine had been in moments ago.

: Maybe here?

Harold entered the store and waited for his brother to follow.

: Hi there. Do you deal magic? We have some books here that we don't need.

Yeah. Let me see...

Harold showed the shopkeeper the excess tomes, and his mouth slanted.

Sorry, but we don't deal in dark magic. We consider it heretic.

He shoved the books back to Harold, who had to take a step back from their weight.

: "Fine, so you don't deal with dark magic. You must know someone who does. It's the nature of business."

The shopkeeper snapped back angrily.

No! No one in this city deals with anything other than light magic. It's heresy. Now get out of my store or I will call the city guards.

The shopkeeper shooed them away. Harold turned and was about to leave when he noticed something, and whispered to his brother.

: *Hang on a minute. Do you see that?*

Harold subtly pointed at the Storm tome for sale.

: *I think someone's trying to reject our good offer just for our looks and made a slight mistake. Wanna have some fun with this chump?*

: "He could just be an honest merchant, you know" Harlan stated, in a tone indicating that he didn't believe it himself. "What did you have in mind?"

: First off calling him out on his "only light magic" crap. If he's telling the truth, then he's breaking the law, and if not, then he will have to admit that he just tried to bullshit us.

: Fortunately one of your new friends is apparently close to the head honcho of the town, so if he really does call the guards we have some leverage.

Are you leaving or what?

: So, do you want to go at him first?

Catherine looks around for that priest kid. Might as well just give him the staff now, rather than forget until his staff breaks in the middle of a battle.

: "Yeah, alright. Let's see how this goes." Harlan put on his best "you're in deep trouble" expression and approached the shopkeeper.

: "Speaking of heresy...are the guards aware that you've got forbidden tomes on display?"

The shopkeeper looked confused for a second.

W-whu?

: That tome right there ain't what I would exactly call light. Care to explain?

I-I-I got a permit for that! Because it wouldn't be as dangerous to light mages like your forbidden magic!

Harold gave a glance aside to Harlan.
