: "Mind showing us this 'permit'? Not that I believe you're a liar or anything of the sort, but it is good to check on these things. Make sure everything is on the up-and-up. Otherwise we'd have to get certain important people involved."

: Is that why you've been trying to bullshit us since we entered? First you tell us that you only deal with light magic, then you suddenly have a permit, and apparently you also have no idea how magic works. If that kind of tome isn't dangerous then you're more than ready to deal with these. Feeling like making a deal yet?

This-this is the last time I warn you! Get out or I'll call the guards to take you away!

Harold looked at Harlan as if to say "finish him off".

[Sirus]

Harlan gave a deep sigh, as though disappointed with how things were going.

: "If you insist. Come brother, I suppose we'll have to get Lady Laude and Sir Lamden involved in this affair after all. We'll be back to...question this man some more later."

[Solymr]

The shopkeeper tried and failed to hide his nervousness.

Y-yeah like you lowlifes know those two! Impossible!

: Oh yeah? Then tell me, how did a couple of lowlifes like us get in a city bracing itself for an attack, with every guard roaming around the city or watching the doors?

I-I... Y-you... N-no way...

: Do you really want to risk us actually knowing them and bringing them here, possibly shutting down this whole shop? Your choice.

Harold turned away as if to leave the store.

Wait! Fine I'll buy your tomes...

The shopkeeper looked at the goods again to make sure.

I can give you... 500 gold for both.

Harold turned to his brother with a smug look on his face.

: What do you say brother, do we accept his offer?

[Sirus]

: "500 each. Looking at your other wares, it's a small price to pay, isn't it?"

[Swordstar]

Tomik had returned Kyle's nod but hadn't engaged him in conversation or anything. When there was a flash of light surrounding Lilly, he glanced over and then turned away again.

[Solymr]

500 each but- ugh, fine.

The shopkeeper gave 1000 gold to Harold, who in turn gave him the two worn out Worm books.

: Pleasure doing business with you.

Party gets 1000 gold!

The brothers left the store leaving the shopkeeper dumbfounded. Once they were out, Harold let out a good laugh.

: Oh man, that felt good. It was a long time since we did something like this, you know, the both of us together.

[Sirus]

Harlan actually chuckled.

: "Good catch with that Storm tome, brother. We sure as hell won't be welcome back there again. Guess I'll have to retire in some other city once this is over."

[Solymr]

: Don't count this city out so soon. You do know the big people around here, I'm sure they could give you a break.

Harold started making his way towards the church plaza and the rest of the group.

[Sirus]

: "Nah, we played that card too quickly, especially considering that we haven't even said five words to the 'big people'. If that shopkeeper gets some brass ones and tries to follow through, I doubt that Lamden would be able to protect us. Better to just move on."

[Swordstar]

Tomik slipped away from the group, not wanting to be there right then. As he wandered, he came across a shop selling magic tomes. He hesitated and then walked in. Glancing around, he spotted a slim tome and sighed. Hoping this would work, Tomik bought Ray and then headed back to the group. Waiting for Lilly to be distracted, he replaced the Elysian Whip she'd mentioned back during the fiasco with the tome he'd just bought. Hopefully she'd be able to use it to protect herself and he was sure Senija could use the Elysian Whip so he gave the whip to her. Since he wasn't sure how much he wanted to protect Lilly right now, at least he could try and make sure she could protect herself.

[Solymr]

As the two brothers arrived to the place where the group was, Harold asked his brother.

: Do you think the tips will work? I wouldn't want the gold we gave him to go to waste.

Tomik Lillian gets Ray!

The door opened again and a guard came out.

Is Sir Lamden with you?

The substitution was unnoticed as a guard poked his head out.

"Er, no. He said he had something to take care of. I'm sure he'll be back soon."

[CrimsonEon]

Heavy footsteps sounded along with a clamor of metal. Lamden soon appeared around the corner in almost full armor, the forearm of his broken arm uncovered and still in its sling.
: "My apologies, was I needed?"

Lord Luso will see you and the rest of your group now.

The guard left the door open and stood outside.
