Why? It takes 150 RP to get Airfields compared to 80RP to get Explosive Shells. Then you still need to build the Airfields and you can loose them to the enemy.

Honsetly, things seems farily balanced at the moment.

This way you can't ignore all other techs and beeline into super-advanced military or something.

Then again, research treaties and tech trading will help equalize the research deficiency/lack of technologies.

Well, if you make airfields harder to get, everyone will just go for the military line, making the game less diverse.

Anyway, I've got a couple questions: A) Can bombers destroy fortification? and B) Is it possible to bomb fortifications before attacking a province?

Ye. Even if you produce 50RP and all you need is 1RP to finish the project, well, 49RP is lost :P

That's a, hopefully, enough of a restriction against super-techy nations.

No, Astmalmo was merely waiting for a moment where you armies will be away and at least several provinces available for grabs within a turn. The non-aggression treaty was just a mask for Astmalmo's opportunistic intentions :P

There's difference between acquiring few lands for expansion, and having 30+ provinces to defend while being heavily behind with technology and army numbers, not to mention -1 combat bonus cuz Monarchy government :P
