Journal of Ad Deathblossoms, Granite of the Year 120
Much has happened since I wrote last. Right away, I met with the lord, the exalted shield, and the holy fortress of the town. The three of them informed me that there was an insurrection happening in the town, which struck me as strange, because I had not seen anything on my way there besides monsters. They also informed me of a group of bandits to the east that were troubling the local villages. They asked me if I could take care of them, and if I did, I would be richly rewarded. I set off, knowing that if I took out the bandits, it could get me the support that I need to confront the elves in their lair.
My travels to the camp went well, and I swiftly took care of the bandits. The lord had also mentioned a second camp, further to the east. I decided to take them out as well and truly prove my might. On the way there, I was ambushed by a goblin crossbowman. I blocked the first bolt with my shield and quickly finished them off in two strokes of my sword.
When I arrived at the camp, it was obvious that the crossbowman had come from here. I was quickly set upon by a group of goblins. I handily dispatched them, and was set upon by another crossbowman. I blocked his first few bolts easily enough, then quickly cut of his hand. After that, it was a few quick strokes to finish him off. As I sit in the camp and write this, the crows have already arrived to pick their corpses clean.
The journey back was just as eventful. I was set upon by lions at one point, which was fortunate because I was running low on meat. However, as I was passing through a hamlet, looking for a place to stay the night, I was set upon by a vicious group of goblins!
They quickly surrounded me, and pressed closely against me, demanding I yield. None of the inhabitants of the hamlet were anywhere to be seen... I had to take this carefully. Backing up towards the houses, I got ready to sprint if set upon. One fired an arrow at me, but I was prepared and managed to dodge it. I slipped behind the house, and sprinted around with the large group on my tail. I made it around and killed the crossbowman. After that, I managed to slowly pick them off one by one. When I had killed three, the group scattered. I managed to catch up to two of them and strike them down, but one escaped. No matter, he'll tell my story. I truly am a god. Although, some of the bruises I sustained make me think armour may be a reasonable investment, even for a god.
...
After returning to the town, I purchased some armour and returned to my lord. He was very pleased with me. But when I explained my plan in full to him, he was appalled! He insisted that the peace since the war had brought cooperation and trade between the elves and our Confederacy. I could not believe this. My lord was an elvish traitor. Furious, I stormed out of there. At the time of writing this, I have decided to set forth anyways. My lord could obviously not be trusted. Thus, I have recruited a number of veterans from the taverns around the city. They know what is right, and what must be done.

On our travels to the south, very few noteworthy events happened. We met some wonderful people along the way. One house we stayed in had an elf slave that attended to our whims, which is where elves belong.
Apart from minor skirmishes, the travels were uneventful. It was not long before we reached an elvish settlement. Walking into the settlement, we came across two elves. The looked at us in fear, and told us that they were out for a walk. Quickly, I cut them down before they could call more of their folk. They live in the trees... They are like animals. And we killed them like animals.
We went through village after village, killing everyone. Men, women, children. Soldiers, doctors, herbalists. They all fell before our weapons. We were heroes, with one goal in mind: reach the main retreat at the very south, and wipe them out at their source. Those elvish bastards won't be troubling anyone else anymore. Finally, after days of killing, I came across the home tree. By this point, all my men had either died or deserted. I decided I would press on, damned be to the consequences. So, I climbed that home tree, and met the queen at the top. My sword clove her asunder, and brought an end to the tyranny of elves.
...
But that wasn't the end.
As I was leaving, I was continuously attacked by elves. They were displeased with my victories. They chased me, they beat me, they cut me.
I killed them.
I killed them all.
I bathed in their blood.
I drenched their marketplace with the blood of innocents. My lord will be proud of me now. Right? I have avenged my father. I have avenged our Confederacy. I am a hero. I am a hero. I am a hero. I am a hero.
...
I sat by the river for a few hours today.
I realized I was still covered in blood and dirt. And that I was crying.
Heroes don't cry.
...
I can hear footsteps in the trees. I think I'm lost in this forest. The elves are chasing me. i need to get out. i need to get out right now.
...
the eyes haunt me. i see the elves everywhere in this forest. i need to get out but i am lost. this journal keeps me sane. but i am a hero i dont have to worry about this. i am a hero. i am a hero.
...
Feeling better today. I finally made it out of the forest and back to the city. The journey home was harsh, but the good people of the Confederation helped me out along my way. I feel different though. I am not of them. I feel as if I am a walking shadow of death. I cannot think on that though. I am a hero, I saved our Confederacy from the elves. Tomorrow, I will greet my lord and be praised.
((Final update will come tomorrow or later today likely, at which point I'll zip up my save and PM Th4DwAfY1. I expected to die when I got attacked by those goblins, but I got lucky that the three scattered after I killed the first three. Even then, I still got beat up by the hammer, and got a spear lodged in me. I'm also surprised I didn't get killed by the elves. I got chased by 10 or so of them, and ran into the market where I got swarmed. By the end, there wasn't a part on my body that wasn't bruised, and my head and one arm was all cut up. I was figuring I'd die, and then just start a small fortress to finish off my turn, but I survived, so I decided to take this adventurer in a different direction. Hope you enjoyed.
Also, I added Deidei and Sheaim to the turn list. Cheers!))
