Interesting tidbit from BBC:

The remote nature of some Scottish regions also means bad weather could delay the receipt of ballot boxes at counting centres, in turn delaying the national result.

The Western Isles declaration will be delayed after Stornoway airport closed. Ballot boxes will now be transported by fishing boat then then road.

Helicopters and boats are being used to transport ballot boxes to counts in areas such as Argyll and Bute.

It's easy to forget that Scotland isn't all sheep and kilts and castles. It's also lots of tiny-ass islands with like five guys and a boat (790 islands, according to Wikipedia, 94 of which are permanently inhabited)

Hey, in a vote this close, those tiny-ass islands could be the difference. I'm dying to see a map of the voting after it's all done. These pre-vote polls haven't given any information as far as the geographic breakdown. FWIW, I'd assume that the No vote is stronger in the major cities and weaker in the countryside. And very weak in the far hinterlands.

I've already bought my ballistic helmet, balaclava and fatigues at my local newsagent so I'm ready to join my comrades in raids on police stations in Dundee if the vote doesn't go our way. We'll form the People's Republic of Dundee and seek annexation by Norway.

I think if there's a Yes vote tomorrow all of us will be Kings of Scotland.

Actually... we have no idea. The Yes vote is strongest in big cities in the most deprived areas and weakest in wealthy rural areas where the English-born population is largest. Lots of older, retired English people live in the rural areas. The more middle class and English-influenced a place is, the higher the No vote - so Dumfries and Galloway in the borders is probably the biggest No stronghold. The Yes vote is, however, very strong still in the Western Isles because the demographics there are very different to that in, say, a wealthy rural area like my county. Even in these wealthy rural counties in the towns (where the majority of the population is) the Yes vote is much higher because people's incomes are lower there. I honestly have no idea how this map is going to look.
