Sorry to necro, but i feel its appropriate:

InfernoMOO is alive again and in very good and capable hands. A lot of players came over from hellmoo recently because hellmoo was becoming stagnant from some poorly implemented changes to their PVP systems.

Inferno has really come a long way thanks to the persistence of its admins, and I feel pretty confident treating it as a different game rather than just the "classic pvp" branch of hellmoo. A number of game systems are considerably different now, and theres a shitload of unique content. One thing that held back hell for new players and veteran players alike was the massive time drain required to get anything done in the world. Inferno does not have this problem, and great gains in the world can be made even as a casual player thanks to streamlined systems - this balances the playing field more than the old situation where a casual player would have no hope of competing with NEET spergs.

Now is a great time to jump in and its only going to get better.
Can you have an admin msg me. I get the feeling I'm banned, as the server recognizes my account as existing, Beortrix, but even resetting the password doesn't work. There is no special message to indicate banning that I'm getting, either.

Hi I talked to an admin. It'd say if you were banned.

Very recently in the last 10 hours or so the DNS has been acting up (even the main address is down) and that might be why your're not getting the auto email. Ill post here when things are resolved.

edit: temporary IP 45.33.126.15, same port if people want to connect.
Nope, I actually got the auto email. On like four seperate occasions, I've tried to reset. IT gives me the new password, and I copy paste it exactly as its written. Then it gives me the wrong password line.

(server v1.10.5 up 46:02:04:37, 18 connected out of 88 active players.)
connect beortrix randomletterstypedright
Either that player does not exist, or has a different password.
Forgot your password? Email us at help@inferno.optiquest.org and we can send you a new one.

Edit th second: So. You can reset the individual CHARACTERS passwords, and the ACCOUNT password, separately. And the game still thinks, for purposes of passwords, that characters are able to be logged straight into. Finally got in.

RIP dead, gay game. After having almost no one online for more than a year, it finally is refusing connections to everyone. I guess broseidon finally gave up.

It really, really is disappointing what happened to HellMOO and forks. Main game fundamentally changed from the results of Gilmore's bad behavior and Infernomoo and Hatemoo dying off due to drama of their own.

Anyone wanna try this out? Got decent population right now, but more is always better. If anyone wanna hop on, look for Dankovsky, that's me. I'll show you around while you're getting started.

It's really beginner friendly compared to HellMOO, and people are a lot friendlier.

I think I've sunk more hours into the various HellMOO incarnations than most other games! Surprised to see this pop back up, I thought that they were thoroughly dead--I'll have to stop by soon. Always interesting to see how it (mainly the community) changes over time, I feel like every time I've picked it up again it's almost like an entirely different game.

There's a weird variant called Stillborn that looks still under development and with a fair amount of activity - I haven't had time to keep up with it but when I did check last it looked like they had some interesting stuff....

Stillborn is indeed still under development and not hosted at the moment, but the creator is planning on putting it up this summer hopefully.

I gotta say, I miss Wayfare. That was a fun space game, though not nearly as indepth as the various hellmoos. Always was a fascinating crew, though I do wish there was either a bit less or a bit more admin shenanigans.

I used to love wayfar 1444. I was gutted when I went to play it after a long break and I had found out it went down the week prior.
