"You're a thief who turns into a Cat, and you find the notion of religious fanatics in armor strange?"

Dereth strips the 'wizard' of anything valuable he might have had on him. Crazy people often had the strangest things in their pockets, kept for the oddest reasons...sometimes that included extremely valuable things.

And then back to searching. Dereth filed away 'Forecrest' for later, just in case, though.

Bits of gravel, a 'magical staff' carved by clumsy hands and far too brittle to handle during a fight, a scroll containing the words 'They knows I knows they knows I knows' ad infinitum, and a cylinder of metal sealed on both sides with a picture of a peach drawn on it by haphazard hands. Literally nothing of use. Though you're fairly certain you should wash your hands. This man seems like he hasn't bathed in... ever. Frankly it's astounding that he doesn't smell terrible.

"I'll forgive you for getting that backwards, it's a common mistake. I guess I've just never met one before."
Raii sighs in slight disgust.
"And you might want to take his clothes too, if you're searching the pockets of a living man. You could at least wait until he's dead and eaten; if we remember where he is the Lady will be wanting a snack."

Ilandrinal sits down and responds.  "Some things require confusion.  I hope you understand; the people I sat with share a common goal of mine, but it's doubtful any of them trust any other."

Alley 1 > Catacombs [[Bill, Lady Joanna, Knight]]

Imitate the Lady's laugh.

[Perform (???): 13+4] You let out a cackle sounding almost exactly like the lady's. As the two of you split up to head to the catacombs later.

Neither of the two of you look back. But it seems like he isn't chasing either of you as neither hear the heavy clank of his armor anymore.

You eventually reach the Catacombs and see no sign of pursuit.

The Sovereign Jester [[Illandrial and The Strange Man]]

"Hm... No honor amongst thieves? How unfortunate. Still what we, and by that I mean the Thieves Guild, want is very simple by comparison. We know who you really are. No names of course. You never know who is listening. As I mentioned in our earlier meeting if you don't like what you hear you can simply walk away. Specifically we want to arrange a partnership with your group. Those seven have cost us quite a bit of money in the earlier days. All heroes start like that. Slaughtering 'Thieves' and 'bandits' who do what they must to survive. Thanks to them families starve. These 'heroes' have genocided dozens of goblin clans simply for being goblins. Not out of spit I'm assured. No. A good friend of our leader was a goblin. Dozens of families starve because 'theft can not be tolerated'. What we want is simple. We want you to hunt down the Seven. Find them and... hurt them. We don't want them dead if it can be helped. We want them to suffer as our friends and families have suffered." The Strange Man takes a breath "The dead can find rest. We want them shattered on the inside. We want their very souls to be wretched from them."

"Let's move on. There's bound to be someone else who knows of the elf, someone who doesn't believe he's a wizard when he's clearly not."
Raii holds a handful of copper and rolls it around in his hands playfully. He flicks one piece at the swordsman's ear.
"Maybe we'll find someone who you can show your swordsman skills to first hand."

Ilandrinal strokes his chin.  "A partnership is very similar to what I had intended.  There's a very distinct difference, but that can come up in future agreements.  For now, what are your terms and conditions, and what is your offer?"

The Sovereign Jester [[Illandrial and The Strange Man]]

"For now? I have found the whereabouts of two of them. The guild offers the first as a show of good faith. When they are dealt with we shall reveal the second as well as... improve the deal."

Continue searching; use Intimidate if necessary, but Diplomacy is preferred.

...Would I be able to replace my Charisma modifier to Diplomacy with my Dexterity modifier/BAB if I used my swordsmanship skills?

No one else seems interested in any elf women except one man who seems... very very interested in Elf women. It's honestly sort of creepy in retrospect but his apparent frustration at a lack of elf women in this city seems to indicate the Elf woman has vacated the city some time ago.

Also, you consider, you would likely be quite intimidating though not any more so than anyone else with a weapon. Most aren't talented enough to understand the subtleties of the rapier. Perhaps the Dareth kid would notice your obvious superiority but he's already afraid of you it seems.
