Ilandrinal emerges from the rubble and dust still lingering around where the tower once stood, holding an old, weathered backpack in one hand, a belt clipped with eight daggers and a longsword in the other, longbow slung over his shoulder.  He calmly hops from stone to stone until he reaches the gathered remnants of their once great power.

"Strange how my old gear remains almost intact.  Even down to my writing implements."

He turns toward where he expects Lakeview to be, scratching his bare chin with a thinly gloved hand.

"Perhaps Lakeview would be an opportunity.  My preference would be towards the trio of towns to the East.   What were they again?  Named after some military convention, I believe.  Better to have options than nowhere to go."

Turning back towards the group, facing directly towards Galia, he responded to her assertion.  "Never bet on a man's corruption.  You tend to be stabbed in the back when you take things for granted.  Discretion is, as they say, the better part of valor."

Ilandrinal quickly surveys the area, seeing just what kind of structure still remains.  (Free action Spot, d20+7.)

"Good to see you, Ilandrinal! It seems all of us are still healthy."

Rikki, despite searching as hard as you can the closest thing to a crossbow you found was a charred wooden sword.

Ilandrinal, as you look around you see as those before you saw. Just a giant pile of rubble. If anything remains intact is is buried under the bricks of your old fortress.

"You think I plan to play to his corruption? I plan to play with his mind. In any case, it is good to see you."

Bill picks over the ruins for any of his apprentices.
Take a 20 to search.

You could find no traces of your apprentices. Perhaps some of them escaped? Otherwise they are buried under a ton of rubble. Still, the lack of their bodies could be a good sign.

Seeing no takers, Harmony pockets the dagger as well, then takes off, surveying the area one last time for anything of interest.

Right, if everyone's done salvaging what they can, we'd best be on our way toward the nearest settlement. It'll give information and supplies, and a prolonged stay in this area is likely unhealthy. Anyone have an uplifting travel song to recite?"

Dereth is already ahead of the party by about a hundred feet, having stopped walking when it became apparent not everyone was following, and starting again once they got their asses in gear.

It’s slow going for the group as they walk towards the river in hopes of finding a ferry. It’s much quicker travelling by river than walking after all. It takes roughly eight hours of uneventful travel before the group sees a small boat being manned by a crew of two men. More of a raft really. Still, when they see you the older looking one hails you:

”Ho there friends! It’s a dangerous time to travel these parts. There is strength in numbers. We’re heading down-river as you might tell. Would you care to join us? We could use the extra hands.”

Galia takes about ten seconds to make a decision.

"How much would it cost us?"

Harmony quickly adjusts speaking patterns, adopting a lighthearted, slightly mocking jaunty tone, in the manner of a jester.

"Ho there! The name's Arana the Muse, and this is my wondrous menagerie of traveling entertainers! Tell me, do, if you head towards Lakeview, for indeed this land seems most treacherous!"
