From a nearby pile of rubble, a gaunt face, as white as snow bursts out. It is quickly followed by a pair of shoulders and torso, with the accompanying arms and legs. Standing atop the pile, he stretches his arms, and dusts off his tattered robes. He joins the group after collecting a small ax from the top of the pile, along with an arm bone and skull from one of the skeletons he commanded not to long ago.
"
If we are all that's left... there's something I must attend to."
Bill walks 50 paces from the group, and bends down, drawing out a rough circle. Inside, he draws the seal of Andromalius. When finished, he places his hand and the skull and bone in the middle of the seal, and calls out "
Andromalius, the Repentant Rogue! I call you to the Material Plane!"
That's all the rest of the group can hear, but they see a humanish jester appear in the circle. Each of his arms splits at the elbow into a dozen forearms. It seems that he's holding something in each of them. He and Bill quietly converse, and, after about a minute, the jester bursts out into laughter, and starts to juggle the items he carries, tossing one to Bill. He fades away, and Bill returns to the group, pondering over what Andromalius gave him.
"
No one's seen my apprentices, have they?"

What item did Andromalius toss to Bill? From Tome of Magic, Andromalius's entry. Important parts bolded for convenience.
Manifestation: Andromalius appears as a middle-aged but lithe human male in the garb of a jester. Each of his arms splits at the elbow into a dozen forearms, and he holds a small object in each of his twenty-four hands. Though his costume and overall appearance change from one manifestation to another, the specific collection of objects never does—a fact that has sparked a long-standing debate among binder scholars. The items are: a belt purse, a silver key, a gold ring, a pair of dice, a copper coin, a dagger, an apple, an arm bone, a scroll, a comb, a whistle, a fish hook, a mirror, an egg, a potion, a dead spider, an oak leaf, a human skull, a lock, a closed black book, a bell, a dove, a set of lock picks, and a mouse. When Andromalius returns whence he came, he juggles these illusory items and then tosses one to his summoner. Some scholars claim that the item thrown indicates a future event, but that the specific meaning depends on which other objects are held in the hands of that same arm.
