There's a little "Powered by dakka" sticker on the backside of the Golden Throne.
Speaking of which, if I recall correctly, the Cult Mechanicus codex mentioned something about tech-priests striking a bargain with Dark Eldar in order to repair the Golden Throne.
What could go wrong?

God Emperor of Mankind in skintight leather straps, a posing pouch, and nothing else, that's what.

Which. I'unno, maybe an improvement?

Sounds like a deal struck with the Haemonculi covens, several live in upside down spires sticking out of the underside of  Commorragh.

A bargain between the tech-priests and the haemonculi?

Their skills are less mechanical and more biological though. They're also not particularly interested in or skilled at warp magic. That said, no one in the universe is as good at recalling the spirit from a single spec of physical matter like them.

Ye, if there's anyone skilled at handling biology and spirit thingamabobery, it would be the haemunculi covens. While pretty much all of them are evil, some aren't super insane, so it might be a thing. The dark eldar are pretty much the most unlury people in the universe though, and the emprah dying might actualy save him in the long run, so this might be the biggest blunder on humanity's part and the greatest gambit on post heresy times, and pretty cool overall.

This means it will never be canon and will never be spoken of again :v

The xanthites aren't exactly bound by the administratum or the inquisition in general though, and are known to take an "ends justify the means" approach to things, being a rather radical group, which makes it extra iffy. They're the ones that know most of warp fuckery though, instead of just outright despising it.

Well now... if Cegorach succeeds in killing Slaanesh, the Dark Eldar are going to have a very interesting period of social upheaval.

That being said, I don't think the harlequins would've fought the cult if that was part of their 'Just As Planned'.

Has anyone read any fluff from the haemonculi covens codex?

Most likely they're being recruited to try and restore Emp's body, rendering the Golden Throne unnecessary.

They're as skilled with machines as they are with flesh, some make devices and weapons remember. It's just less of a thing for them because they developed from the Eldar Empire's scientists who mostly had a body modification obsession.

One device the Haemonculi possess allows minds to be transferred from one body to another, or from a body into an inanimate object. It's risky, but ripe for abuse by the Imperium if they get their hands on a few and the knowledge to use them.

Just what I'm getting from this big honkin 800 page Andy Chambers DE novel.

I was speaking generally about them, but you're right. They're Eldar so they get to be good at pretty much damn near anything they want.

I still have a hard time believing an actual deal was struck. There's no way the DE would honor it as agreed to and that's a hell of a gamble to play not only with the Emperor's life but also his sanctity. The logistical challenges alone of getting them in there would be insane.
