Right. I said I was going to do this, so here goes. A blind LP for Pokemon Omicron!



Recently finished freeware version of Pokemon made using RPG Maker.


Do note that I do have some real life issues so this LP will not necessarily be receiving my full attention. I'll be putting the first part up in a little bit, it's already done I just have to upload the screenshots.

And yes it's a blind run, so keep your spoilers to yourself. And no, I'm not doing any particular challenge(Nuzlocke, Randomizer, even though they are built in to the game).

Here, selecting Controls just brings up a page with the controls. Arrow keys move, C is the okay key, X is cance, Z is to run, V is to quicksave, F5 is to used the registered Key Item(like the Select button in the commercial games). Actually that last part is wrong, Q, W, and E are for using registered items now. F5 is for sorting.

As for Adventure,

Why do emergency broadcasts always thank people for listening? I've never understood that.

...And wait, how did they pre-record a message detailing an attack by a specific group and have a count of total casualties? If they had that kind of information beforehand, couldn't they have, you know, prevented such an attack? Just sayin'.

Gah, I seem to have hit the post limit again with the other half of the update. I should probably make smaller updates. Anyways. Onwards to adventure!

And that was Lucario speaking, as a Pokémon does. Oh, and for future reference, this game seems to type male characters' speech blue, and females' in red.


...A first-strike attack that hits pretty damn hard to boot?


"Lu-carrio!"
If Lucario can only say his own name, how can he tell this Wilson person anything?


And just like that, he's gone. Not shown: Lucario smashing through the wall and snapping the necks of two of the bad guys even before we actually see him gone. Lucario is just that badass.
(Not really, the screen just faded to black for a second.)


That's about as a good a conversation starter as "I think we should be safe here".

If I remember things correctly, I'm just going to go ahead and preemptively say "Horsea". Nothing says adventure like a water-based partner that has no legs. Look at it hop around, suffocating and dehydrating, vainly wailing at opponents infinitely more adapted to mobility on land than it :3

Yeah, I'd say watching my mother say goodbye for the last time is something desperate.

See, our mother is badass. She's not going to stoically face death, she's calmly and collectedly walking out there to murder some assholes.


Just how old am I? In the anime, people could legally carry Pokémon at age 10.

What the hell is wrong with that old guy down there? He's missing his eyes or something. (Note: I don't believe he's facing down, either).


They put three Pokémon into one Pokéball? Impressive.

Now for our choice of starter we have:


My favorite of the three. I've always wanted to start with a Bellsprout. The main downside is that getting Victreebell requires a Leaf Stone, but what the hell, I like Weepinbell better anyway.


Magby. Kinda dumb-looking if you ask me. I don't know if Magmar ever gained an evolution, either. After writing that I found out it does evolve, through trade.


Oooh, Horsea. I've never figured out how Seadra evolves, though.

That's it for this update. I'm probably going to ignore everyone's suggestions and take Bellsprout.

UGH want to give spoilers SOO MUCH!

I like all three. There is one thing to keep in mind that I'm going to spoil even though I don't think it's a spoiler because it's about a mechanics change. All three starters have had their movesets, stats, and evolutions changed so that they're more like normal starters. They'll all evolve through leveling up, so you don't need to worry about that complication. I don't actually know how much the stats and movesets were changed, just that it was done to make them roughly equivalent to each other.

Stat wise and likely movewise too Magmar and Horsea are pretty much untouched. It is Bellsprout that has been seriously buffed.

 Anything but the water type, there are always so many of them in Pokemon games they were ether Gamefreaks favorite or they just wanted everyone to hate them as much as they do.

It has more to do with the unfortunate "Well... we have all this water, we need to populate it with a bunch of pokemon"

Or rather the over abundance of water pokemon stems more from the gameplay then it does the love for water pokemon.

It is one of the same reasons why there are a lot of Normal Flying Pokémon... and why Normal + Something else pokemon aren't too too common.

Not that it stops them from making pokemon that seem more like they picked their types out of a hat... or looked at one innocuous detail on their body and went "Yep, that will determine its type"

Since there wasn't any particular suggestions otherwise before I got bored, except "not Horsea", I'm going with Bellsprout.

The last page just shows Ribbon information, which doesn't matter right now, since we just got it.

"If you see a wild Pokémon, such as in the tall grass or a cave, you can throw a Pokéball to catch it!"

"You'll have to weaken it first though. A Pokémon is easiest to catch when it is low on HP, and has a status effect like being asleep or frozen."

Injure. Incapacitate. Indoctrinate. Got it.

"You can't catch someone else's Pokémon though. That's theft!"

I think "kidnapping" might be a better term, but I guess this means the prison sentence is less?

"There are many kinds of Pokéball. Some of them will catch Pokémon more easily.

Alright, Bellsprout vs Snubbull.

Let's get kinky with it, Bellsprout, use Vine Whip on her!

*Snubbull loses about 45% of her HP, and used Growl in response.*

Actually, I don't believe Snubbull has any kind of offensive attack in this battle, so that it's literally impossible to lose, unless I were simply use Growth until it became a Stuggle duel, if even that's possible here.

Anyway, the next Vine Whip did significantly less damage, while Snubbull used Growl again.

Now I'll use Pound.

Yep, I punched a dog in the face. She used Tail Whip. So I used Vine Whip again, which actually does damage enough to take her down.




Damn right I won. And mugged the guy for Ł160. Interns don't get paid very much, do they?

"Wow! You're pretty good!"

Actually, you just suck. Learn an attack move, seriously.

"Anyways, come visit Snubbull and me in the Professor's Lab!
Let's go Snubbull!"

Well, there goes the underpaid intern. And that's it for this update before I run into the post limit again.

Spoiler: Finally getting out of the starting cave, and it's only taken three updates to get here. (click to show/hide)

And these three updates only cover 9 minutes of playtime, and even then only because I kept the game running while doing screenshots.
...I probably should condense this LP more, then.

So, here we are:
In the middle of a cave, having just won our first battle. Now to finally get out of here. After exploring every inch of the cave first. There isn't much here, just a couple of NPCs:


A little girl with a Mudkip.


A Shiny Mudkip. Nice.


Attagirl. That Shiny will be better than those mean normal-colored Mudkips.

And there's that weird old guy. The other weird old guy I mean.

"Those Team Olympus goons are up to no good again, aren't they?"

So this isn't the first time they've executed a city-wide massacre?
He also gave me a Potion.

"Beat Team Olympus for us old folks, will you?"
I was going to beat them for destroying my hometown and possibly killing my mother, but sure, why not?

And then there's the worthless intern.

Good to see you! Use those Pokéballs against Team Olympus, ok?"
Err, how? You just told me I can't use them on other trainers' Pokémon!

And on the way out, we find RUNNING SHOES, which let us run around holding the Z key. Somehow, Bellsprout keeps up with me.

Now, finally out of the cave.

Our first look at Zarivar Town. And it's night time, because I just realized the game uses your system clock for the game's time, and it's around 7PM when I wrote this. This actually surprised me.

First, a look around town before we head to the Professor's Lab, despite the fact that it's first building to the east.

In the opposite corner from the Escape Route we just left, is the Pokémon Center, to refill the PP used by Bellsprout in the battle before, all three of them. Hey it's a free service, excepting of course the massive tax rates to support universal pet healthcare. I mean, where else does Nurse Joy's paycheck come from?

To pass the time while Bellsprout has already been healed before I could walk away, I talk to this guy.
Do you have a hero?
My hero is probably Red or Brendan... those two trainers are just so cool!"
Red is alright, but Brendan is a sexist prick that I always played as Mae just to kick the crap out of him.


Did you read him his rights? Hahaha...

The other guy just talks about the Gym Leaders and Elite Four.


Here's the map of Vesryn Region that was on the wall. Zarivar is marked there on the northwest, Nyasa is(was) to the west, and Superior City is to the south past Naragex Forest.
Before leaving the Pokémon Center, I grab a Potion out of my PC Box.


The local Pokémart. The chef on the left just says he's looking for rare and exotic ingredients. In a Pokémon pharmacy. The other guy is just looking for Repels, WHICH THEY DON'T SELL HERE. Just Potions and Pokéballs.

And the description of the Pokéball:

Who the crap translated that? I buy 5 of them.

And leaving, we talk to this kid:

I'm sure she also told him about good touching and bad touching, and that bad touching is only for Mommies and Daddies and lone pathetic teenagers.

The house next to the kid didn't have anything, except I found another Potion in the trash.

Now, off to see the Professor.

"Lets get down to business. I'm not entirely sure where your MOM is, but I'm planning to meet up with her later."

I just had a thought. Who the hell is my dad?

"She's out recruiting allies to help fight against Team Olympus."

Yay! Mommy's not dead!

"I'll see if I can keep you in contact with her."
Cool!
"In the meantime, I need a favor.
Crap.
"One of the students in the school just south of my lab is starting an internship with me. Can you go fetch him for me? I would appreciate it."

Can't you go send your other intern? Of course not, so I go to the school. In the next update.

Just what is the size limit for a post? I had to truncate the last part of this one, and originally the text file I had it on was about 6kb when the preview button didn't show anything. A 5kb block of text previewed fine, so I suppose that's the limit?
