"He chose this battle. There is nothing to regret."

As Matthew reached down for the Satori Sign, he could here the grunting of an exhausted man rising up beside him. From the muddled mess of a man, Jason got up, his Steel Blade being held dangerously in his off-hand.

: "You're right... I did choose this battle. Now I don't believe that belongs to you, vulture."

Jason took a step forward... Then immediately fell down upon one knee.

: "Damn it all..."

Kahn likewise knelt, looking Jason in the eyes.

"What now, then? You yet live. Will you ally with us?"

"Would you take it back from me? You could try I suppose, but as far as I can tell, you wouldn't be able to put up a fight and more importantly, you have no use for it as far as I can see. You were beaten. To the victors go the spoils, is that not how it is?"

Kahn likewise knelt, looking Jason in the eyes.

"What now, then? You yet live. Will you ally with us?"

Jason shot Kahn an incredulous look before coughing up a bit of blood.

: "My insides are burning like there's a fire raging and I can hardly walk. Does it look like I want to join you?"

"Would you take it back from me? You could try I suppose, but as far as I can tell, you wouldn't be able to put up a fight and more importantly, you have no use for it as far as I can see. You were beaten. To the victors go the spoils, is that not how it is?"

Jason drew himself up from his knees and leaned heavily on his sword.

: "I think you know pretty damn well if I wanted to put on another fight if I wanted to. But that is not yours. Got it kid?"

Glaring at Jason, Matthew slowly formed a ball of dark energy in his hand.

"Then just try and take it from me. Or give me one good reason why I shouldn't give it to one of my companions here who can actually use it."

"Orpheus could heal you, lad. Regardless, tell us why you felt this battle was necessary."

Glaring at Jason, Matthew slowly formed a ball of dark energy in his hand.

"Then just try and take it from me. Or give me one good reason why I shouldn't give it to one of my companions here who can actually use it."

: "How about you take that sign and shove it-"

: "It's mine. That's what you mean to say right?"

Orpheus glided in dropping next to his friend as softly as a feather. Neither Kahn nor Matthew could possibly heard him coming. Jason simply stared at him a few blank moments. He chuckled grimly.

: "I just can't hide anything from you... Can I?"

His body convulsed in another coughing fit. Tiny droplets of blood sprayed the ground he tilted his head back to his men.

: "Wilson... Tend to the wounded would ya? Both sides. As for you two... Help me up. I sure as hell ain't spending all day kneeling in the dirt like this..."

Letting the ball of dark energy dissipate, Matthew shook his head.

"Maybe next time just try saying that. We had no quarrel with you. You attacked us, you have no right to act like you're in the right here.

Handing the sign to Orpheus, he shrugged.

"I suppose that it will serve you as well as it would serve others in our group. I'll let you decide what to do with it."

Kahn stood and held out a hand to help Jason up.

"True. There is no glory or honor for you to gain dying here this day, lad."

Cara sauntered towards Orpheus and the rest.

"I wish he would have just let us through. This fight was pointless. Nothing has changed except men being injured and dead."\
'Matthew. We did not aim to kill.' Cara mentioned. '...Or in the least, certain ones of us did not.'

She looked at Jason while in her transformed form. 'There is also no shame in admitting defeat. This was a test, was it not? We have passed it as given, have we not?'

Matthew shook his head.

"Even when one aims to not kill, there are still mistakes. Wounds that when left untreated, lead to death. Misplaced strikes and other similar mistakes. If everyone we fought survived this day, I will be surprised. Glad, but surprised."

Coronis flew torwards the others, having lagged behind at the end of the battle. She looked around at all the bodies lying around the team huddled around the wounded Jason and descended towards them. After landed she tapped her foot impatiently.

"...so this means we can go past you now right?"

'I'd be surprised too--though some came up with more direct methods to end the fight. Regardless. The man is here only for Orpheus. He believes we are on a doomed journey. Then we will prove him wrong. His men on the other hand--one of the runners was a healer.'

Cara tilted her head at the notion.

'I wonder why they'd run.'

Matthew grinned slightly.

"I doubt he can stop us at this point. And if he tries, we'll just push through again."

With a shrug to Cara, Matthew offered a thought,

"Perhaps it was because they realized they would lose."
