The Windblown Plains

As you approach the town through the thick grass, you see more signs of civilisation. Fields of crops begin sprouting in clearcut sections of grass - thick fruit on lomg stalks, surrounded by wooden fences.  It's then you see the first of the natives here - four antlike legs lead to a misshapen torso. Four arms sprout from the bulge of the upper torso, with a tiny head almost comically perched on top - with insectoid moutparts and a pair of gleaming eyes. Their bodies are wrapped in bright cloth, and they take little notice of you as you pass by. You also see a human in the midst of a group clutching pitchforks - he has battered looking platemail and a sword belted tp his waist. He doesn't notice you, and you have only a few hundred metres to the town gates.

The town itself is surrounded by a motte-and-bailey, the wooden-shingled houses rising far over the low palisade. It seems humans patrol the walls, will there's a steady flow of the insectoids in and out of the gates, each equipped for farming. The gates themselves are open, with only a single guard sitting slumped next to them.

Orchea looks around at the creatures in bewilderment as she walked by, but still pressed on towards the gate.

'I've never seen any like these before. Have any of you?'

Approach/go through the gates.

Collete gives another small shake of her head, eyeing these ant-men warily.

Through the gates as well!

'Hmmm.'

A flash of clarity appears on Orchea's face.

'Drones of some sort perhaps. Supervised.'

She nods to the human on the farms.

"Not in sense of functioning. I've seen copses that hold a passing simalion."

You were planning to have a 15 year old magical girl kill Witches by drinking them under the table!? It's original, at least.

Orchea's mouth opens as if to comment, before promptly shutting at the proximity of the gate.

Pranimtown

Together, you walk into the town. Orchea nods at the human in the field, but his back is to her, and he does not notice.

The guard at the gate says nothing as you pass - it seems humans are not what they are there to guard against, if anything. The town is even busier than it looked from outside - the ant-like people are everywhere, carrying material back and forth, often conversing in a chittering language as they hurry to and fro. The sounds of construction - wood hammering and sawing - come from the east, with the ringing impacts of blacksmithing from the west. North leads past a large inn and a market towards the bailey on the hill. All the buildings seem to be made of wood - no doubt from the spriteswood.

The inn is a large wooden building, brightly painted with red paint to match the clay shingles comprising the roof. The sign hanging next to the door has 'The Thirsty Drake' painted on it with a picture of a small dragon greedily gulping at a flagon. The small glass windows show a decent amount of movement inside - presumably labourers having their noon meal. A large board next to it is covered with scraps of paper and parchment.

The market seems lively as the rest of the town. Most stalls seem to be laden with the same kind of vegetable - some kind of thick tuber - or with the brightly coloured cloth the ant-like people wrap themselves with. A few have ironware pots, tools, and one even has weapons and armour, though they don't seem to be great in quality - probably stuff from the bailey too old to be used by the soldiers.

You are standing just inside the town. If you wanted to ask the gate guard questions you could do so easily, or you could head into town.

Looking at what is presumably a tavern/inn with amusement in his eye Kyle chuckles.
"Nice to know naming conventions are the same."

Orchea heads towards the sound of hammering, adding almost as an afterthought:

'I'll meet you all at the inn when we're finished.'

She seems slightly agitated by the crows and buildings around her.

Once she's out of sight of the others she starts looking for anything resembling an enchanters. Failing that, she looks for an armourers selling blades.

(( Might be easier to cover the actions that are in. I've noticed Scap occasionally disappears for a few days without warning, so it could be one of those cases. ))

(( I am literally working on the update as you post that. ))

Pranimtown

Orchea

You peel off from the others and head towards the sound of blacksmithing. It's not long before you see the source of the hammering - two burly, bearded blacksmiths - they look like twins - are working metal on a pair of anvils on either side of a large forge. Racks of various hiltless blades stand next to them, while a young girl aroudn thirteen carefully assembles them with handles and handguards.

Subject, Kyle, Collete

The rest of you watch as Orchea disappears towards the sound of metalworking before walking up to the tavern.

The board seems to covered in many scraps of paper. Some seem to be prayers - dozens of them have the same few lines on them, appealing to the One-Who-Sleeps for aid or blessings. A few seem to be bounty reports, with rough sketches of shady-looking men glaring over the promise of rewards for their apprehension or elimination.
Of the more interesting papers, one is from the bailey - it summons warriors to destroy a nearby encampment of sulduan, whatever those are, in a old mine.

The final one is most interesting of all. It claims a daemon has been seen repeatedly near the waterfall of Ghis, near 'where the sacred stone is mounted for the glory of the Sleeper.'

Orchea touched her hand to her brow, a standard greeting among her tribe.

'I have some questions for you, smiths.

Firstly, I have no coin on my person, and little to trade.'

She proffers her pack, showing her possessions minus the trinket (and the obvious spear). She keeps a close hold of the strap.

'I would, however, like to acquire a blade - would some arrangement be possible?

Secondly, would you know of the location of a nearby enchanter?'
