Also, since monster manual 1 is open, you can use races from there such as the gray elf. But only if you're a dirty, dirty power gamer.
Wait, wait, wait, any monster? Or only humanoids or what? Interested parties wish to know.
I'm pretty sure there's only rules given for humanoids, this isn't Savage Species. If it has "as player characters" rules, go ahead. However, since this is 1st level, no racial hit dice or level adjusts allowed. Some notable cheesy races playable at 1st level are Orcs, Gray elves, and Wood Elves, to save you some time.

Dammit my miner just got ate by an alligator because I was browsing feats rather than paying attention.

Okay, my sheet should be done crunch-wise, and I've already explained the gimmick, so only thing left to do is await approval from our kindly GM.

Unfortunately, tower shields impose a 2 attack penalty. In light of that, you may wish to change shields. You also should distribute your skill points, you get 4 minimum at 1st level despite your being a stupid fighter, and you'll continue to gain a minimum of 1 skill point per level. Lastly, I think that you should be putting your weapon focus bonus on your waraxe attack, not on the general melee attacks bonus, but that's a really minor niggle.

Edit: Also, if you want any help with your sheet, add me as a user to your sheet on Mythweavers. I'm Sensei there as well.

I've made a start on Derek Boweltrust (the fortress who lost a miner due to his creation is named thus), here: http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=886574

Halfling wizard. Don't know what spells to pick yet so will do later. Also don't know what to buy with the 75GP, so will also do later.

I added you as a user Sensei so if any thing looks wrong please don't hesitate. I'm off to bed.

edit: er, though, still not sure if I should be a dwarf instead.

Wow, rolling a 3.5 game with AD&D generation rules.  I am so definitely watching this. :D

3d6 across the board is one of the main 3.5 stat generation methods.

Is playing a lizardman acceptable? It's not got super cheesy stats compared to most of the monster races. I'd roleplay it appropriately  ;)

Yeah, but 3D6 Straight is something like the rarest of the methods outlined in the DMG.  That's why I usually saw it in older versions and remember it with those more, and why I'm so definitely interested in watching for now.  I might wait-list in later, but that'll be a couple weeks at least before I can consider it.

Do you mean lizardfolk? Since they have a level adjust of 1, you'd need to be 2nd level. So, not until we get to the point where characters joining in are 2nd level.

Halfling is not a bad choice. If you like illusions, you might be a gnome, because their saves for illusion spells are higher. Anyway, all you still need is to choose your three first level spells.

Ah right. I'll save Mr Pendleworth the Gentlelizardman for another time then.

What to play instead...

I present Ser Garkbo the Unlikely. He's a goblin fighter. I spent all 150gp on a riding dog. If someone has some excess gold after making their character, throwing me some armour and a weapon would be appreciated.

Question: The 'Trample' feat specifies a hoof attack, can I use the dog's bite instead? Or alternatively, can the Ride by Attack use the mount's attack rather than my own? Basically, at least until I can afford a small lance, I want to be using the dog's bite attack rather than my own.

Can you just have the dog attack anyway? I mean, normally you would need a ride check to do that in a round where you are attacking as well, but since you don't even have a weapon that's not a issue.

Although not having a saddle might be a issue. Well, maybe not much, gobos are good riders.

Sorry, your dog still has to come to full stop to attack. Of course, you can still just have it do that. If you get a weapon, you can even both attack, provided you're within one move action of the enemy.
