Zelda music.

I can see that working well. Especially something like the spirit temple theme from OoT.

I also just had a human diplomat enter from the surface, hold a meeting, then exit the map via hell.... I guess he thinks he's pretty hardass.

The Castle Theme from A Link To The Past is also suitable :D Because, DUDE, CASTLES!

If we're going for somber fortressy themes, how about the gerudo pirate fortress theme from Majora's Mask?

Also if you have a seaside fortress, just loop Dragon Roost Island. Just loop it forever.

That would be cool, though not sinister enough for a fortress of mine. :P Unfortunately Zelda doesn't really have ominous seaside themes. Perhaps something like this would do the trick:

Try the Forsaken Fortress theme. Or Zant at Lakebed.

Strange, it didn't add in what I said after I quoted all that.

I said, "Try the Forsaken Fortress, or the Shadow Temple."

Faith No More, Evanescence, assorted other stuff from the last century, the occasional silly youtube-remix of something silly; the same stuff I always listen to. :P

Generally the music soundsense has, I've grown to like them (especially the world gen music). Sometimes however I listen to whatever music I usually listen to.

Ooh yes, definitely very appropriate. :P Bloody hell zelda music is so good. Koji Kondo is a genius. (it inspired me to get an ocarina and learn to play it)

I think I've found very good dwarfy/fantasy related music. Here I shall display them for you.
Actually, I modified soundsense so it could play those musics at the seasons I see them to fit well, it's really cool.

Here's the list:
1 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHio67Uhfys (Summer, for the fort's greatness!)
2 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3D-c5ZJswI (Spring, time to work)
3 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBZ3Uw3fabo (Autumn, true epicness. Time to strike the earth)
4 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1s3cIJDup0 (Really fit into spring)
5 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVAmBmdvHrU (Spring)
6 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-DCyuSU20E (Summer, don't think this really is THAT good but I had 8 sounds to distribute into 4 seasons and Summer's already got number 1, which is the best, in my opinion)

Not necessarily dwarf related music but also very fitting into Dwarf Fortress's fantasy universe
1 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFFUFQhLXXU (Here comes the Dragon! Ready the fortress!)
2 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U62YkXZNs8M (Embrace youselves! Winter is coming!)

I feel like a real dwarf while playing. No Goblin siege can stop my fortress from rising strong and wealthy when I'm listening to number 1 and 2.
When number 3 plays, all the world's races recognizes the dwarfs as the true and only descendants of Armok and begin respecting and praying for them, pff... Little does they know, inferior creatures.

Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I enjoy this topic (I think that this kind of music makes the game so much immersive)
