"I surrender! I surrender! Don't kill me!" The remaining cutthroat dropped down his sword and raised his hands up. Few of his compatriots writhed and groaned on the ground while bodies of others simply bled slowly onto the bricks.

Suddenly, the port's guards came - on the horses. Two squads of lancers and bowmen, mounted on brown steeds, rushed from the west. One circled from north, pining Janus to the wall and trapping the others away, whilst the other squad rushed from the south, stopping in front of the unfortunate thugs.

"Drop your weapons, all of you!" One of the horsemen shouted as his comrades trained their lances and bows at everyone who dared to twitch.

Dustine leaned against the wall for support, still not fully recovered.

"Hah... About time you showed up. These men attacked our boss, Julian Descartes. A respectable business man. We did our job, and protected him."

"I said drop your weapons!" The horseman shouted at Dustine as his comrades nearby turned their weapons at her.
