Yup, I don't think there'll be an issue with us having two rangers. Either way it's a full BAB class with decent survivability. I shouldn't be too ridiculously squishy either, I just... can't do a whole lot of damage in melee. Until I do like 8 nonlethal damage with my touch spell and knock the enemy out. Once per day.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Back in my day, we didn't cater to these fancypants wizard-types. When we decided to dump strength, we got a hireling to carry us. Nerull-blasted ring-bearing kids.

Edit: Anyone want to have a conjoined backstory? I guess I'll be an elf.

That might be cool.  I'm still trying to come up with the back story for my elf, so if you've got any ideas send 'em and I'll see if what I'm thinking might fit.  I've been busy, but I think I'm close to wrapping it up.  I especially need to re-check the rules since I'm sure I'm messing something up somewhere.

How local is local as far as that handout goes? I was thinking Sumac was part of a group of Varisians that stayed relatively close to Sandpoint (kind of in the triangle formed by Sandpoint, Galduna, and Wartle), his bird is from the Fogscar Mountains, and his druid training came from druids in the Sanoc Forest.

As for why he's in town it's mostly just because he's figured out being a stereotypical druid isn't for him and he wants to learn as much as he can about each of the groups of people in Varisia to try and find a way for everyone to play nice together. Sandpoint's as good a place as any to start. This may lead to him being slightly... pacifist. I'll probably be playing him with a focus on incapacitating and knocking enemies out, rather than killing them. There are a surprising number of druid spells that do that, so it shouldn't really inhibit my ability to be effective, but yeah.

Edit: Oh as far as who the 6 players are, there's the 4 in the OP, Carrion, and Mainiac.

Your character would count as a "Local" of the area. A Background Handout, which I am still in the middle of preparing, would mean that you would know of the past events but none of the details, you know little of the people of Sandpoint, but you know the area around it well enough...

Yeah it's +3 to damage from strength, +2 to attack but +1 from BAB.
Theres a section of the character sheet where you put in the BAB. Check the sheet again incase you missed it. I forgot that Rangers get a BAB+1 at lv1.

Hmm. If my character had come to the place quite a while ago when her sister left, but the trail was cold - she's stuck on where to go next, so she stayed and did odd jobs and the like. She's been here long enough to learn about the local area and people. Would that be suitable?

So two of our players have taken like a week to make character sheets and haven't posted anything yet.  Do you fellows need help?

Maybe the town has been more of a base of operations for her until recently?  She could have gone with Kodda and Hamjul (Kodda's NPC mentor) on a couple of Hamjul's trading runs as a way of looking for her sister.  This would have the added bonus of giving the characters more reason to stick together then "some bloke I met in a pub and decided to form a warband with".

Just a thing to think about...

If you base a backstory about a character being somewhere, include years, this allows me to make your History Handout a little more unique or even helpful to you. Say you say that your character came to Sandpoint to live, say how long ago, saying when gives me an idea on who may be connected to you, what you saw or even experianced in the town...
The more details you can think of to make your character more alive in the area makes things a little easier for me too, there is a TON of backstory and stuff that seems to be DM Exclusive in the adventure path, information that leaves a DM wondering, "How am I spos to let my players know about this." when it comes to certain items, for example there is One item which is mentioned, but is in fact more interesting then it first appears but this information isn't something that you can just throw at the players unless they dig for it, but even then its hard to let them know they are standing on a well of backstory...
By giving me timelines of your characters actions, I can make you character feel more alive in the town or area, so please help me help you with the story if needed, ask me questions about the area if your not sure, or ideas. I have tons that could help...

Heh. I always found it weird that in these sort of games they'd meet and instantly be willing to die for each other.

Your idea is good. Lets do it.

It's likely that Sumac met Hamjul and Kodda on their trade runs while he was living with the Varisians, so there could be some recognition/friendliness going on there, too.

Alternatively, Sumac may have had a strange but friendly evening around a campfire among the Varisians with a mostly-human-looking half-drow a convenient number of years ago.

Lots of ways to tie him in to those stories.

Edit: Also, collecting character sheets in one place: [Kodda] [Ketarii] [Carrion's Ranger]

Seeing as the three characters seem to have their timelines a little mixed, I'm gonna sketch out an approx timeline to see if we have any conflicting notions

43 years ago: Birth of Hamjul, the far trade merchant of Sandpoint
~25 ya: Birth of Kodda (date unsure) in a distant land
25 ya: Birth of Sumac among the Varisians
21 ya: Birth of Ashii (sister of Ketarri) in Sandpoint
19 ya: Birth of Ketarri in Sandpoint
18 ya: Ketarri's father leaves Sandpoint, her mother gets a wasting illness
17 ya: Sumac's family meets Hamjul in their travels
15 ya: Kodda is rescued by Hamjul and brought with him to Sandpoint, Kodda and Ketarri meet in passing but aren't close (Ketarri is 4 years old after all)
13 ya: Kodda starts traveling with Hamjul on his safest, shortest journeys
11 ya: Hamjul and Kodda encounter the Varisians again, Kodda and Sumac meet for the first time but only are together a few days
10 ya: Hamjul leaves Kodda in Sandpoint for a couple years in the care of Kaijitsu, the innkeeper.  During this time the child Ashii is interested in the outside world and pesters Kodda endlessly with questions
6 ya: Hamjul takes Kodda and Ashii with him on a journey to the Varisians again, Ashii and Sumac meet for the first time
5 ya: Sumac leaves the Varisians for a while and pursues studies as a druid
3 ya: Death of Ketarri and Ashii's mother, Ashii departs soon after
2 ya: Hamjul brings Kodda and Ketarri with him on a journey, asking after Ashii.  The pair split paths with Hamjul part way, going to find the Varisians and make inquiries.  They then seek out Sumac; first meeting of Sumac and Ketarri
1 ya: Ketarri and Kodda make another search, this time without Hamjul.  They meet with Sumac who is done training and joins them in the search.  The trial goes cold and all three travel to Sandpoint.

Carrion's character still lacks an Adventure Feat, they are a bonus Feat as long as your character comes from the local area, and chosen his 2 Traits, one can be chosen from the list found on the front page and the other from the link located in the same sentance.
Mainiac, you haven't chosen your Adventure Feat and Class Feat.

I'll be taking one last look over the sheets cause I think we are done...

I don't know what those are but I just took Dodge and Fast Learner and hope those will work.

Did you have a look though this???

Edit: Just a reminder, inside the playerguide is a few Bonus Feats that you can choose as an addition to the Level 1 Feat every character gets. BUT the rule is that your character must be of the local area to get the bonus feat from the players guide. So yeah...
