Sorry I was away for a few days and I thought I would be able to post but wasn't.

What are the problems with the feat choices I have right now?  Are they not valid?  I realize they aren't taking advantage of the setting specific options but those choices didn't seem to really fit well.

Within the Playerbook there are bonus feats, these feats are available in addition to the Feat you gain at level 1 as long as your character is from the local area, these are not needed, but they do offer MORE THEN THEY APPEAR. Each of these Adventure feats gives a character a good starting point in what they know about the area for me to create a special handout for you, this handout contains things such as possible friends/enemies, special locations and even knowledge of events of the past that outsiders wouldn't know about. If you feel that you do not want any of these feats, then you just get your level 1 feat...

Okay, I will pick one for the background even if the feat itself isn't that relevant.

The thing is, when you're making a character you want it to have a reason for being where it is. You have to have a reason to be in Sandpoint or your character shouldn't be in this game. Take a read through the player guide information, find aspects of it that you like, and make a character/tweak your backstory to fit the world. It's the DM's goal to take what you make and build off of it, but your end of that deal is to give him a backstory that makes sense.

tl;dr: your character should at least loosely fit the theme of one of those feats or you're doing it wrong.

Edit: although, to be fair, the "outsider" feats are incredibly specific and I don't like the flavor text on them. Kodda probably best fits the Favored Daughter (Ameiko Kaijitsu), the Black Sheep (Aliver "Pillbug" Podiker), or the Outside (Exile), although it's definitely up to you. She's been around town long enough (came in to town when she was 10ish and has lived there for 15ish years) that I'd argue she could count as a native. I've been mostly ignoring the very specific parts of the flavor text for those feats in general. *shrug*

Edit2: Man so many mistakes. Also I suddenly changed Kodda's gender, so that was great. Should be fixed enough to be understandable now.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

In my mind she is an adopted native of Sandpoint, she's originally from Korvosa (where Hamjul rescued her) but doesn't long for the place.  She is restless enough in the town of Sandpoint to want out but still feels a strong affection for the people who helped her in the past.  Classic example of being torn between hating and loving your hometown, except for her it's an adopted hometown.

Might be good to do Favored Daughter (Ameiko Kaijitsu) then, since she would be all about encouraging Kodda to go out and see more of the world (so that she can bring it back and buy/sell in Sandpoint). She seems like the type of NPC who would be willing to put up with a restless youngster/young adult so that she would have someone to make requests of. Also, while Kodda may not like being tied down too much, she probably grew up knowing the value of having an ally in a high place, like Ameiko. Also also, she's a strong female/mother figure to go with the strong male/father figure of Hamjul. It seems like the best fit, though you could put something together to make almost any of them fit, really.

Ah, I mistook your comment as continuing looking for input and didn't bother looking at the character sheet.

I think that it says it in the Players Guide, but just incase, Ameiko is actually a retired Adventurer. Came back to town after a few years adventuring for reasons which will be involved in a handout, bought the inn and became its proprietor. So if anything, Ameiko would have told Kodda all about her adventures and other things...

Yeah only one person missing. If anything I can always just start after Easter without him, though Spot is open if anyone sees this...

I sent him a message to hopefully get him back to the thread. I'd prefer if we started this sooner, rather than later. I've got a nice bit of lighter workload coming up.
